I don’t want to watch pro athletes play in some artificially meaningful tournament in the middle of a season with actual meaning. I couldn’t watch the WC a few years ago either.

When the stakes aren’t high it’s crystal clear to see and not fun to watch

That's the entire NBA regular season. They're hoping to add value to some of these, seemingly, meaningless games.

The cup style tourney I'd wager is kind of fun because they don't have a playoff system to appoint champions. That's like the whole point over here.

Like I genuinely don't think people will care.

Sox offense was top 10 and often top 5 in all MLB in most categories each of the past 2 seasons.

So here in 2022 that same roster is somehow emphatically worse than they were?

TA=A younger version
Moncada=A younger version
Robert>A younger version
Abreu<A younger version
Grandal=A younger version
Eloy>A younger version
Vaughn/Sheets>Encarnacion
Pollock>Mazara
Garcia/Harrison<Madrigal

This is what you’d expect. TA and Moncada both at the same level they were in 2020 is reasonable, and you’d figure the same with Grandal. You can factor in Abreu getting worse, but only slightly so was my expectation. Then you thought if Eloy and Robert are that productive in 2020 well surely they’d be AT LEAST just the same 2 years later. And you’re now giving me Andrew Vaughn and Gavin Sheets? And Pollock? And no more EE or Mazara(or Eaton either)?

Ok sure it sucks getting worse at 2B but everything else pretty much appears that it SHOULD be better or at least equal. You’d think the offense would only improve by now with so much young talent. But again….it’s just not happening that way. The players aren’t performing and/or they’re getting injured.
On paper they're a good offense. In Game 2 yesterday, I noticed 7 of 9 players had BAs of .220 or lower. They scored four runs in two games vs. KC and their staff of aces.

Tonight it's slightly better. 6 of 9 guys .230 or less. 5 of them .218 or lower.

That’s what I mean like how are they THIS inept? All that talent and track record of quality performance plus added time to grow and develop the youth and this is the product we’re receiving? Like….shouldn’t the offense be WAY better than this?

They're getting worse instead of better.

They all suck now.

Guys like Abreu, Grandal, even Moncada were good at one point. They all just suck now.

I know and for that all to happen there’s gotta be something going on. Maybe it really is all on TLR, it’s possible. Like Abreu okay I get that he might be expected to decline just a bit with age…but to completely fall off a cliff? And guys like Grandal and Moncada have no business being this much worse than they were these past couple seasons. Team wide there’s a problem. The approach sucks. They all seem uninterested too. Just swing at the pitch no matter where it’s thrown and take your grounder to short and head back to the dugout. Rinse, repeat. Every batter.

What’s crazy is this offense is just one of many problems.

Fix the offense and you’ve still gotta worry bout the defense. And the bullpen. And the managerial decisions.

It’s a giant mess.

LOL, Moncada has played in 7 games. And his 120 wRC+ is right in line with last year (not that it matters, since, you know, 7 games).

Grandal really needs to start hitting, hes a below average defensive catcher so when hes not hitting its baaad and having to use the dh spot on a guy with an OPS of sub .600 is even worse.

Abreu was actually pretty terrible last year outside of a brief stretch in May and then August

Age certainly appears to be catching up to him and Konerko fell off rapidly at 37

Abreu is officially listed as 35 but given history of guys from Dominican Republic/Cuba we cant be certain that is his actual age

Tge offense forctoday"s 7 runs in the Sox victory basically came from 2 pkayers ONLY...Anderson and Robert ...Anderson had 2RBI and Robert had 4RBI ...Engel had tgevotger RBI...but the battingvorder was Anderson tgen Moncada then Robert ....Abreu fails to get a hit or dive in a run in the ckean-up spot...Moncada before hom had none driven in... Abreu failed oarticilarly with bases loaded and only 1 out...user fIl thing a stroke 3 without even swinging on a lolipopcurveball right over middle-of-the-road plate...justvawful fIkure..Cannotceven get a sac fly ...nope...Getscembarrased taking what shoukd have been a gift that a competent batsman turns into a hone run...it was there and he just never even swing at it.. He us messed up...finite.. Went over tge cliff.

Grandal credited with only 1 an ...no hits..no RBI.fail.

Pollock ...no RBI....Sheets 0 for 5 no robi.Gar.Vaughan was 2 forc4 but No RBI .. Engel did get 1RBI ... Harrison made as usual...but that means the entire batting order after Robert (batted 3rd) combined for only 1 RB1 which is pathetic...When you get only 1 combined RBI from your 4,5,6,7,8 and 9th hitters you are in dedpndoo-doo.

Sox lucky Anderson Bd Robert carried the team t odY ..but you just cannot have so little run production from the 4tgru 9th spots...

Abreu/Grandal/Po look = a big yuck in tge "meat of tgevorder"..

No power...leaving too many on base...
