Baseball [and I think basketball] champagne celebrations after winning each series are so strange.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Save that **** for a championship win. Imagine if hockey teams celebrated like that when they clinch a playoff berth, or through every round won prior to the Cup. It's a bit much.

In baseball, it makes more sense to me because baseball historically makes a bigger deal out of those smaller victories than other sports, especially when you talk about pennants.

Basketball it makes no sense.

I know the announcers last night mentioned that since baseball is such a grind and a long season that teams like to celebrate the success they encounter along the road.

Hockey there is only one goal The Cup, everything else is failure.

Basketball, meh

Gonzalez can't run, so I don't get why he tried to run home on a grounder. He could've held onto 3rd and get the bases loaded.

And Baez steals home to make it 3-0 for the Cubs.

Not a good start to the series.

You can always tell when the 7 second delayed rule is applied. Pretty sure that dude who grounded out dropped an f-bomb running to first and the sound was muted.

Ha, I was wondering why the sound disappeared for a moment.

And the Cubs with the grand slam on an 0-2 pitch with two outs.

Game over.

Does Blanton have money on the Cubs? Good lord this bullpen is a disaster.

Better hope Kershaw can go the distance tomorrow if this is the help they're getting from their relievers.
