Honestly, I wonder if you ever get to the point were baseball starts to shift away from using your best bullpen pitcher just for the "close". If you have 2 on in the 6th with no outs in a tie game. That seems like the place to use a "closer", get out of the real dangerous position and use your best to do it. I had a friend that was really into baseball analytics and said there were a few guys that proposed it, but it hasn't taken off. Who knows, the wild formations took time, but now everyone seems to do it.

There's a few teams where it already trending that way. The Cubs have started doing it with Chapman and Rondon recently. bringing Chapman in to pitch the 7th or 8th depending on where the tougher part of the lineup is. They did it in game 3 against the Giants. SF had their 2,3, and 4 hitters coming up in the 8th and the Cubs with a two run lead. Maddon brought in Chapman with the hopes of getting through them and having Rondon pitch the 9th... It didn't work but they tried it.

Rams look like a Modern offense third week in a row. Looks like Fisher is letting his Offensive Coordinator actually do his job.

Good Rams game except for the final drive. Keenam threw it into triple coverage, game over. The missed TD on 4th and inches at the end of the first half was a killer. No deception on that play, and the Lions were waiting to stop Gurely.

Two runners on, one out, and a Cubs pitching change. Here's a chance to add to the lead and give Kershaw some more runs.

So much for that, Pederson grounds to a double play. Ugh.
