Makes me wonder if AEG might be planning a splashy signing for the Kings as well. Years of zero playoff revenues makes ownership want to do splashy things...
You mean stupid things. Lombardi gave them the map. All they have to do is take it out and follow it again.

Yes, perhaps it will be a stupid thing to some (if it happens which is just speculation on my part). But to others, doing nothing to add to the team is equally stupid. Do the Kings use Ottawa or Buffalo as their model? I don't know. Do they use San Jose or Vegas as their model? I don't know. What I do know is that LA is a big market city and doesn't tolerate losers. It needs stars and it needs glitz. That is not conducive to a long-term rebuild. Hughes (or maybe even Kakko) could have been used to be the "face" of the "new" organization. Dach? Byrum? Not so much.

Look at the Lakers...they tried a rebuild and it was a dismal failure. How many top 5 picks did they have? And 5 years into the rebuild they weren't even a .500 team. So they get James. Now they get Davis. Bye Bye rebuild. Now the Lakers have something they can sell and market around. Will it work? Who knows! But financially it is WAY better than the terrible rebuild they were in the middle of. They have stars again and that is perceived as "winning" in LA. Rebuilding in LA is for losers. Always has been. You don't think Staples and AEG are looking at that and wondering why the Kings should do the same thing while they already have marketable stars in their prime on the team?

We'll see what happens but I'm sure there are voices in AEG that are not at all in favor of a full rebuild.

Thank goodness the circus have left the building. I hated this draft from the beginning and finally someone is stupid enough to take on the worst dad in all of sports. Its a good day for Laker fans. I'm more happy Ingram is gone another Duke bust.
Jfc, Ingram is not a bust. He has a ton of potential and showed it post ASB before he got DVT.

It was a bad trade from a futures stand point. Davis is injury prone so we better hope it doesn't get worse ala Bynum..
Rob Pelika got fleeced because he's a player agent and a on the job learning GM.. Davis was coming anyways because thats what he and his agent had planned all along. Add this to moving Russell and Randle, we could have made many more trades but the short sightedness of this franchise is stunning..

With that said, we still need a shutdown defender like Jimmy Butler because Kuzma and LeBron are terrible defensively.. It should be fun but I have a bad feeling it'll be short lived because of injuries
People keep bringing up AD's injuries but he only missed so many games last year because of his trade request. The previous two seasons he missed a combined 14 games.

He also missed playoff games the prior season when Rondo took over...
Although he hasn’t missed huge chunks of games he’s played with injuries throughout his career which will likely lead to issues as he ages..
Lingering knee, ankle and quad issues should be worrisome.. but he’s a generational talent, you add Jimmy Butler or in every Lakers fans dream Kawhi Leonard and they’d likely repeat what the Showtime Lakers did in the 80s..

Trout just eats up the blue jays:
2 run home runs
Grand slam
RBI Single
A total of SEVEN RBIs

He also had another shot at a 2nd grand slam. Best player in the league, hell... best player in sports.

The best player any of us will probably ever see and they can't even sniff the division. It's pretty sad.

Although I am kind of optimistic they could maybe turn it around and challenge for a WC spot but what a disservice they've done to Trout throughout his career.

Truly sad to see the best player we may ever watch, play on a team that may never sniff the playoffs ever again. Trout is something special seriously feel for the guy.

People compare Mike Trout to Mickey Mantle (and it's fair), but he's more like Ted Williams in that he'll never win anything.

I hope so, at least until he somehow gets traded to another team eventually (not named Giants). Hard to root for such a great player and a good person when he's wearing the enemy's jersey.

Hope is not something you associate with the Dodgers. Historically, they don't win it all.

Not with our usual bargain bin bullpen... As smart as the front office is, they sure keep repeating the same stupid mistake by not going after a big time reliever to complement the Pen... why did we let Tony Watson go again??

Not sure, but Kelly was supposed to be a big get for the bullpen but he's been less than competent this season. He's had a decent couple of outings against the Giants, but we'll see.

This team has suffered from imploding bullpens since the days of Bilingsley/Martin/Kemp/Loney/Kerahaw/Broxton....
Our best Pen was Gagne/Dreifort/Shuey!

Interesting question in The Athletic Today. Who would you put on the Mount Rushmore of Los Angeles sports athletes.

I'm going to go with:

Sandy Koufax
Magic Johnson
Jerry West
Marcus Allen

Dont know i'd put MA on the Rush.. it mostly be Lakers, Kareem, Kobe, Elgin, Shaq, Wilt, James and of course i'd put Sandy's crime partner Don Drysdale before MA...
