The Rockies will never be a good team until they get rid of the Monforts and go a miracle run like the Royals did.

The Royals didn’t go on a miracle run. They called up parts of the game that were forgotten and left behind due to steroids and Sabre metrics. I’ll just put one example out there: the productive out. At least 65% of the game involves the batter making an out. So if you’re better at this 65% of the game than everyone else, it can turn into a big advantage. That was only one reason the Royals had great teams.

I love the Rox but there window to win a championship is very small one that might never happen.

That's one reason I love the AVS. I always believed they had a chance to win. (And also I watched them win the Stanley Cup as a kid)

I used to be a baseball nut, but the steroid thing and other factors have soured me on the sport overall. Rob Manfred, the Astros, and the overall decline of the game (baseball is proof that just because you have stat sheets in front of you doesn't mean you're incapable of making horrendously dumb decisions) are killing what love I have of the game Bridich and Monfort haven't already destroyed entirely. At this point I don't even care what they do with Arenado--in fact I want him to go to a good club and win his ring. He deserves better than this backward organization.
Not to meant as a bash to baseball because I simply do not know the sport, but based on allegations in UT's video it sounds insane.

Anyone watch boxing? Fantastic comeback by Povetkin against Whyte. It finally shut Whyte up.

Yeah. I don't even pretend to understand why the NBA does what they do with draft-day trades. Makes no sense.

But yes, missing out on a superstar, whether it's whiffing on Raef Lafrentz when Vince Carter is SITTING RIGHT THERE or actually drafting a great player only to deal him away, pretty much defines the Denver Nuggets and why they haven't really been a relevant NBA franchise for their entire existence save for a nice run in the 80s and one giant playoff upset. No matter how great a team they seem to piece together, it's always just one single player they can't seem to stop in the postseason who just unravels them.

they drafted Gobert as well

The trades are typically pre-arranged. If Denver drafted Mitchell and Gobert, it's typically the case that they've already had a deal in place and are drafting them on behalf of the other team.

Luca Doncic was drafted by the Hawks
Kobe Bryant was drafted by the Hornets

I don't like this. It's better if the team who wanted him, has him from the beginning.

Yeah, two years in a row now we got a coach who keeps preaching DEFENSE, and the Nuggets continue to play horrible defensively. It's times like this I honestly wonder if the Joker is the right guy to build around. At the very least you have to surround him with players who actually can defend and rebound consistently, and I don't know if you can get away with your most important defensive position being manned by a guy who's not good defensively. Also, whenever Gary Harris goes down (which is often), Blue Arrow's defensive deficiencies also stick out like a sore thumb.

I kinda like that Denver is constructed unlike any other team in the league, but again, their Achilles' heel is destroying them in the postseason.

The rule changes in 2004/2005 made it more difficult to build around centers. They changed the rules so perimeter players could have more freedom of movement. It seems like this tilted things in their favor and not so much for big men.

There's no such thing as defence in this modern NBA while refs calling everything as fouls. Better to just try to outscore opponents nowadays than trying to get a balanced roster.

It's the Stepien Rule that states you can't trade your 1st in consecutive years. In the cases of Gobert and Mitchell it's really just trading the picks after the fact, so they don't freeze up the next year's draft pick. For instance Nurkic and Gary Harris were both Bulls picks, while everyone knew they were headed to the Nuggets at the time. If the NBA wants to keep the rule they should allow picks to be traded on draft night and not count as consecutive years so the players can actually get introduced with their new team.

The namesake and reason for the rule is Cavaliers owner Ted Stepien had traded away so many upcoming 1st round picks that the NBA was worried the team might fold, because any prospective buyer would be better off spending their money on an expansion team.

Imagine getting 20 million dollars a year for being completely useless like Paul Millsap. What a life to live.

Curry's coming-out party was something to watch.

Jokić needs a strong defensive presence in the paint. They shouldn't move away from him, but it would be wise to pair him with a guy who can go and take away the tough defensive matchup in the paint and make life harder for driving guards.

A good example of that is Zubac in LA. When he is out of the lineup and Harrell is in the Clips are just getting killed by the Mavs. Luka just takes to rock to the basket and does whatever he wants. When Zubac is in his shooting % drops significantly and the number of shots he takes inside drops considerably. Yet Rivers forces Harrell despite the Clips getting killed with him in the lineup prior to the last game.
