Not a Nuggets fan, I'm a Lakers fan so **** the Clippers but I'm happy to see the Nuggets having some success.

I got to experience watching five championships with Shaq/Kobe, so I won't even be mad if the Nuggets upset the Lakers. It would be a real feel-good story for a team that plays a great brand of basketball.

Yep. Either of those teams with Giannis are probably the best superteam of all time.

For the Lakers LeBron, AD, Giannis is probably above the Warriors teams, and for Warriors some combo of Curry + Giannis + Klay + at least one of Wiggins/Draymond/#2 overall pick is better than their previous teams. Superteams aren't stopping any time soon.
I think that Giannis is going to sign in Toronto.

Regardless, Giannis doesn't really excite me the way greats like LeBron/Durant/Curry have in the past and presently do in LeBron's case.

The guy just cannot get it done in the playoffs. I've said it for years about James Harden being the ultimate regular season performer while also being the ultimate playoff choke artist. Giannis, while putting up decent numbers in the playoffs, just doesn't do anything for me. He doesn't completely dominate the way those greats do/did.

Will that change if he leaves Milwaukee? Maybe. But Khris Middleton is no scrub and Brook Lopez was great defensively this year, while George Hill led the league in three point percentage. I don't know how much better of a team he's looking for.

This is just insanity. Elway needs to boot this guy. Or demote him to DC if he's willing, but that's just unacceptable.

He is just a trash head coach. There is a reason he never got a chance all those years. He can't manage a game. He can call defensive plays and that's about it. If the Broncos want to get better, they need a real head coach not D coordinator pretending to be one. He is in way over his head, it should be painfully obvious to Elway a few more games like Monday's game and you'd have to assume he'll be on the hot seat. Can't lose games because you forgot how to do your primary job.

fangio talked about a process - I am curious what it is. If I was a HC I would be delegating most of those decisions to a coordinator in the booth. Maybe that's the way they do it - not sure. I would never handle timeouts etc from the sideline. Too much going on.

Problem for Fangio is simple, he doesn't care about the offense, and doesn't trust his D coordinator, so he makes the calls on defense, and gets way to involved and then completely neglects his HC duties because he can't do everything. There is a reason why there is a HC and 2 coordinators. It's just too much for one guy to do more than one responsibility.

Jesus did Elway really screw up THIS badly with two head coaches in a row!!????

I also really have to wonder why the actual f*** a former superstar quarterback who had the very most success in his storied career with one of the most brilliant offensive minds in football history keeps hiring defensive coordinators as head coaches. Let’s remember the one and only time they won it ALL with him as GM was when yet another guy from the offensive side, his former backup QB, was the head coach. The other three guys he hired either fizzled out or never got started in the first place. Makes absolutely no sense.

I'm still largely okay with Carmelo and still thankful that he put the most irrelevant franchise in the NBA back then back on the map, but no, he absolutely does NOT deserve to have his number retired in Denver. Not the way he engineered his exit, even though it did, in the long run, benefit the Nuggets. But no, you don't do that and get your number to the rafters.

I'm still kinda weirded out as to why that didn't happen. I'm guessing Mike's kid wanted too much money. Elway seems to be a bit stingy when it comes to paying his coaches. Not sure why.
I think it's because Kyle is smart and chose the best franchise for him. Why would he want to come to Denver, where his Dad still lives, and coach beneath his shadow?

Plus 49'ers let him help hire the GM, John Lynch. Whereas in Denver he would be working under John Elway and a club with no owner.

Rivers is too dumb to realize Harrell can't be on the floor with Jokić. Nuggets set a simple pick and Harrell ends up completely messing up the rotation which leads to two 3s by Jokic and game over. The dude was -19 in 15 minutes he played, just a complete pylon defensively.
Not saying Rivers did a good job in the series, but who would you have played? Zubac 48 minutes? I googled Clippers roster and saw Joakim Noah haha

Jokic did what he needed to do and everyone including Doc knew they didn't have anyone to stop him.

Didn't Elway commit to the "leader of men" before Shanahan went to San Francisco?

All good points. It'll be nice if this f***ing ownership situation finally gets settled. Unfortunately Ellis has so manipulated events so that Brittany wins out and he gets to stick around.

Regardless, Elway's coaching hires remain f***ing baffling.

I agree. You need 3 things to be solid for to win a Superbowl.

Owner
Head Coach
QB
Most times a good GM also but teams have won with coach or owner fulfilling the GM position.

Edit- More like you need those things to compete for a Superbowl consistently. There are definitely super bowl champions with bad quarterbacks and great defenses.

Yes, I'd rather play Zubac 48 minutes than that train wreck. Even Noah while horrible offensively won't bleed baskets against like Harrell. Every time he was on, Nuggets did whatever the hell they wanted.
