I think Soler will. If Soler's numbers go down from his .410 average and .500 OBP AA numbers in Iowa, he's going to have to have a mammoth statistical regression before I won't peg him in Chicago in September. I think Baez has a very good chance, as well. Almost as good. Soler is just ridiculous. No other way to put it.

And also, I'd like to say that McKinney has been very good in his short time in the Cubs system. The A's gave the Cubs Russell, one of the best prospects in baseball. Their number two prospect was McKinney. He is just a baseball player's baseball player. I think he will be a nice piece moving forward. When people forget about quality players like him, that's when you know talent your farm has real potential.

Cubs Anthony Rizzo promises home run, delivers two for cancer patient

You might remember that Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo hit two home runs against the Padres on Tuesday night, giving him an NL-leading 25 on the season. It turns out those homers were for more than just Chicago.

Rizzo recently met with a Cubs fan diagnosed with leukemia, and the fan asked the breakout star to hit a home run for him. Rizzo, a survivor of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, did the fan one better.

As described by Cubs play-by-play announcer Len Kasper, Rizzo told the fan he’d make a special gesture as he crossed home plate, which he did on both of his longballs. And to make it even better, the homers came one day before the fan’s 22nd birthday.

Awesome story.

Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer promised that kid Paul O'Neil would hit two home runs.

Pfft, Paul O'Neill would've hit 2 homers.

IU, I know you went to IU, making me have to explain this :)sarcasm:), but Rizzo promised to hit one homer and hit two, so he is still cool.

I was wondering if you guys knew of a guide or something online that explains baseball somewhat simply. I'm trying to find a summer sport that I can watch when hockey and football aren't around, and baseball seems to work for most people. My only experience with baseball is Moneyball and Spacejam, so I'm going to be starting off from 0

I think there is a thread on the baseball sub-forum dedicated to just that question.

Paul O'Neill to me will always be a Red

I remember as a little kid all the baseball cards of him and some pretty damn good talent on those Red teams

Jim Bowden trading him and thinking he was done at 29 for 1 yr of Roberto Kelly and then flipping Kelly for 2 years of Deion Sanders was a massive blunder

God I loved those 1991 Stadium Club series cards!!! The packs smelled amazing and the cards were gorgeous and glossy. That is when the industry took a dump sadly, but that first year of Stadium Club cards (hockey too) were awesome.

My personal favorite though is the 1987 fleer baseball cards with that really aqua blue border. Beautiful cards to look at and tons of great players in their prime that year. Barry Bonds rookie card on the update serious I believe was awesome to have for a few years

You're showing your age

My memories of O'Neill are mostly from the playoffs in the 90s, plus the Seinfeld appearance.
