If the NCAA had any sense they'd require the Turner networks to make simulcasts of their March Madness games available to OTA stations (with CW affiliates having right of first refusal) in markets with a rooting interest in the participating teams.

This would put ASU-TCU on KASW Phoenix, KWBA-TV Tucson, and KECY-DT3 El Centro-Yuma. The idea is to make games available to viewers who only have an antenna to provide them TV.

RIP Cardinals. Your All-Pro safety wants out because the stories about what a shitshow the org is won't stop.

MadBum is a bum.

Maybe I'm being dense in my searching, but I can't quite figure out what "designated for assignment" means to Baumgarner's future. He was placed on waivers, and nobody will pick up that contract. The team owes him tens of millions. In his situation in the NHL, he'd move to the AHL when his contract isn't picked up elsewhere. Does Baumgarner get moved down to the Reno Aces?

Incidentally, I attended the home opener. When they announced everyone's name who is associated with the team, a pretty sizeable part of the crowd booed Baumgarner - before he had thrown a pitch in the 2023 season.

It's been a long time since I had a clear understanding of the MLB CBA, but the last I understood, if you're DFA from the MLB roster and you don't have any minor league options left in your contract, you either have to be traded or released outright. I'm sure someone with better knowledge than mine will be able to clarify, though.

He can also accept the assignment and head to the minors if he's not released/traded. This occasionally happens though usually not with high profile players who wouldn't want to slum around AAA, since the MLB team has to pay the player anyway
