I have been so focused on Chychrun I didn't have this on my radar at all. Wow...talk about going all in! The battles with Dallas should be even more epic now!

Makes zero sense. It’s like the Hall trade, only way way worse!
I’m not a huge basketball guy, but follow the suns a little bit. The new owner wanted to make a splash, granted a Chayka type splash. This puts the suns as a contender for sure, but drastically that window is closing.

Ayton, booker, Paul and Durant is pretty damn elite right now. Two years from now likely going down hill. Should be a fun playoff if anything.

Mikal Bridges is the heart of the Suns. Four picks on top of that is just stupid.

Is that 4x FIRST Rd picks? That sounds like the team thinks they need very little from the draft, and this trade makes them a contender. Brooklyn fans must be thrilled with the return.

Four unprotected first round picks, every other year for the next 8 years, plus another pick swap.

This is 100% a new owner trying to get a trophy ASAP. The Nets fans must be absolutely out of their minds with glee about this.

Heh, and the nets just got 5 second round picks for Crowder from the Bucks, apparently.

It all comes down to winning a championship. Not that this guarantees anything. No reason to debate the KD trade today until he departs. If he helps the Suns win a championship it's a success. If not, terrible trade.

Only those with a real magic 8 ball that says "Yes" to will the Suns win a championship with KD can evaluate the trade today. For those with the common magic 8 ball that just has "All signs point to Yes" you can throw it in the trash....it's just a novelty item.

I think back to what the Diamondbacks did to win the 2001 World Series. They overloaded and pulled it off (by the skin of their teeth), and on the way played in one of the most memorable World Series of all time. Buuuuuuuuuuut... they crippled the franchise to the point that it hasn't ever really recovered since.

So it comes down to whether you want to win one trophy at all costs, or you want to build a dynasty that can win multiple ones. I will always be in favor of the latter, personally, because dynasties are remembered more fondly and for far longer than the one-offs.

Durant is still excellent when he's healthy but this continues the great tradition of valley teams acquiring elite talent on the wrong side of 30. If they don't win a title next season this will go down as one of the dumbest trades in history.

Eh, their management (2 different ones) horribly bungled two opportunities to get out of it. Josh Byres failed to develop a dynamite prospect pool in 2006-2008 and traded several wrong pieces (RE: Scherzer, max ya know one of the best pitchers of this era) Then Kevin Towers (RIP, But a moron) wasted Goldy's prime.

As an Arizona native, that's the only championship in my lifetime in any of the 4 major American sports. FYI - I'm actually the one responsible for winning game 7 and the World Series, but that's another story.

Maybe some aren't aware but these trade all your first round picks are the norm in the NBA now....someday the Suns will be on the receiving end and can re-stock their prospects.

You're welcome to wait for a dynasty, I'll gladly take a Suns Championship.

"Dynasty" is hardly in any Phoenix sports fan's vocabulary. If they win a championship exactly once and fail miserably as a result of this trade for the next two decades, I'll be elated. I still fondly remember the DBacks 2001 season. I don't know enough about basketball to comment further, but maybe I'll actually watch a few games now.

And that's coming from the eternal optimistic!

Lazily watching KD's Suns debut in Charlotte and I gotta say... it seems *really* weird hearing an Arizona team being cheered in someone else's barn.

When you look at the entire list of teams, there's no relationship between the team's grade and winning games.

Exhibit A.
