Nature has ways of correcting populations. Whether that comes in the form of a more advanced species (like humans hunting deer as population control [and yes, it's humane, don't even]), or some type of epidemic disease, it'll likely get sorted out. Not the sunniest outlook, but unfortunately true.

Ok off of the population topic and I know I'm new in this thread but I have a question for you guys.

I work in Finance now. I left entertainment after 4-5 years working in talent management (like a Lloyd in Entourage -- yes, it sucked).

I have majors in Media & Film and a Business minor. I have a series 7 & 66.

I've been thinking I want to do jobs that involve travel around the world. I'm always anxious, I love traveling and I just can't imagine sitting behind a desk like I do now, for the next 40 years.

Now, to the questions. What careers, realistically attainable for a 24 year old, can you travel around the world and make a decent salary doing? I've researched but would love some input/potentially different ideas.

Also, what degrees, undergrad or grad, would you think would help in getting a job that allows me the freedom to travel and make money at the same time via a career?

So I was walking my Dad through HFBoards last night over the phone. I told him to click on the GDT and was planning on showing him the different streams we offer so he could watch some more games when he has the time. It went a little something like this:

"Ok, Dad. Click on the thread that says "GDT Ottawa @ Rangers"

"Thread?"

"Like those links you see that take you to different discussions."

"Ohhhh ok. I clicked it...New York Rangers fire sale?! The trade deadline already passed!"

"No, no Dad, you're in the trade thread section. Back up and scroll down to all the different teams."

"This guy is saying to trade Ovechkin for scraps....i don't understand...hey what's a homer?"

"It's just a word people use to-you know what, let me just send you the link."

"Oh ok. I see it. Now what?"

"Scroll down...do you see where it says "Ottawa @ Rangers? You see the team logos?"

"All I see are some big boobies."

"lulz, Dad keep scrolling down."

"Who's Loffen?"

"Dad."

"She looks sweet."

"Dad. It's just an avatar."

"**** that movie. Sat through half of it and my damn ass fell asleep."

 It's like an Abbot and Costello skit.

There is no specific degree that will allow you to do that. You want to have your cake and eat it to. That may not be the case. You may be able to have a career that allows you to travel but not make much money. You may be able to have a career where you can make a lot of money (relative term) but not travel.

Traveling around the world in a corporate setting (where you will make the most money) is usually reserved for higher level positions that take years to obtain. My advice would be to focus on getting a good job and obtaining relevant work experience. Then after a few years I would begin to look for positions that are travel positions.

Anything else is wishful thinking.

There are some sales representative positions that require a lot of travel, and you may not need a lot of experience or an additional degree for it, although it doesn't hurt to have a degree in marketing/sales. However, there can be a lot of turnover in these positions, and the salary varies depending on what field you are in/product you are selling.
