I am officially off of Facebook. Starting the year doing some random things that gives me a sense of renewal that won't last more than a week but I'm doing it anyway

Gym Membership, poker sabbatical until May to rework my game, buying a new car, hopefully an apartment after that once my term savings frees up so I don't have to mortgage, getting back in good shape and health, maybe a relationship if I can get over my commitment issues, maybe some hockey to look forward to and the most important thing of all, you guys. :joker:

But now who am I supposed to talk to at 3:30 A.M.?

Apparently Erik Johnson is better than Dan Girardi, Michael Del Zotto, Marc Staal and Ryan McDonagh. This despite averaging only 20 minutes a game.

I'd rather have Erik Johnson than MDZ no question, probably Girardi too honestly although that'd be closer. McDonagh or Staal? That's a joke.

On the topic of athletes being cool or not, I ran into Mike Richter at the mall about 3 years ago and he was one of the nicest guys in the world. I grew up playing goalie and idolizing him so I was at a total loss for words, but we ended up talking for a good 10 minutes before he gave me a hug and I went home. Every other word out of my mouth was a nervous expletive and he laughed every time, embarrassing but whatever. We didn't even talk hockey really which was the coolest part, he was asking me questions about where I was from etc. and showed a real interest in talking to a fan, not just a "yeah thanks kid see ya later"

I have my long standing tradition of enjoying a bottle of wine and chilling by myself in quiet but deep reflection. I buy a bottle around Jan 1st and save it for a year to be had the next NYE. A new wineglass each year as well. Haven't picked up one this year though.

I am drunkified, feeling fatified and watching WJC reruns. Cooked up a culinary storm - 9 courses of finger foods starting at 5pm - and have been drinking fairly heavily since. Thank you iPhone autocorrect. My only news years resolution is the gym goal I've had all along and the acquisition of that career launching job.

As an addendum to the above; the reason I'm watching WJC reruns is because the girlfriend is so thoroughly wined and dined that she requires a cat nap before the ball drops. It's all champagne and Jameson per moi. And brie & apricot pastries. And bacon wrapped portobello sausage from earlier. And steak tartar. God, I love letting myself eat.

Also the little brother and his friends had a little pregame here not so long ago and many substances not named food or alcohol were abused. Kinda makes me miss the shirt out of my college days and also makes me feel kind of old. Spending New Years at home with the girlfriend is pleasant enough but none too exciting. Is 26 this old?

Happy new year to those that've already celebrated and those about to celebrate.

I was given a glass of champagne. Didn't like the taste too much, but I finished way faster than I should

There are worse things in the world

What event was this?

Celebration Square New Years Party in Mississauga. It was free and my friends wanted to go and I had no plans, so I was forced.

The worst part was that the skating rink was so packed, you couldn't move a foot without bumping into someone. On normal days, it's moderate if you go early.
