got the news that basically my plans for having two suites of 10 guys next year for dorming was kicked to the curb when two kid's got RA jobs and 4 others went separate ways so I guess I'm living off-campus next year with other friends!

It's weird. There are a bunch of shows that like-minded people all like that I have no interest in. Breaking Bad. Sons of Anarchy. The Sopranos. *yawn* I think it's subject content. Having anti-heroes and having them be what are, essentially, just regular criminals doesn't interest me. Just like crime process dramas don't interest me.

I need something else. Some cool historical context, like 1860s NY in Copper. Or some sci-fi/fantasy bent. The closest I come to normal today is Dexter, which is basically a comic book premise.

My favorite show of all time, though, is The West Wing. People ask me what I think of House of Cards and I tell them that it's just OK. They say "I thought you liked political drama!" I say, "House of Cards isn't a political drama, it's a power drama. So is Sons of Anarchy. Don't like that either."

YESSS THIS. I LOVE WW. Watched the whole series on Netflix last year in about a month. Can't imagine following it when it was actually going on. Looking back, they predicted so much ****.

Just for example:

Sam Seaborn: "It's not just about abortion, it's about the next 20 years. In the '20s and '30s it was the role of government. '50s and '60s it was civil rights. The next two decades are going to be privacy. I'm talking about the Internet. I'm talking about cell phones. I'm talking about health records and who's gay and who's not. And moreover, in a country born on the will to be free, what could be more fundamental than this?"

Also, I LOVE HoC as well. Both shows are amazing in it's own way. WW with it's idealistic, help the people/greater good type of way. HoC in it's cutthroat power way.

I'm a huge fan of dry comedy. Some of my favorite shows are The Office (UK version), Seinfeld, Bored to Death, Louie, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

You're the only other person I've met that likes this show. What happened to it?

Ratings had something to do with it. It was a cult-favorite but HBO doesn't tend to give long leashes to cult-favorites (Bored to Death, Hung, How to Make It In America). The only shows that hang around for several seasons are those that get critical acclaim (Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones).

Bored to Death was great though. Ted Danson's George Christopher remains one of my favorite TV characters ever.

He was a hilarious character.

I powered through all 3 seasons of Louie earlier this month. ****ing amazing. There was maybe one episode I didn't really enjoy in all three seasons combined. Great writing, great story.

Curb is by far my favorite comedy, and has basically defined the type of humor I find funny to this day. The drier the better for me.

Also, after watching Blue is the Warmest Color-- it's on Netflix now, definitely catch it if you didn't-- this song has been stuck in my head all day.

Anyone a Strangers with Candy fan?

My biochemistry professor introduced me to it, and it's hilarious. Extremely crude, dry, black comedy show from the 90s. Colbert is in it.

Just finished watching Dexter. I personally enjoyed that ending, it stayed very true to the show. They didn't try to force a happy ending, I feel it ended just how it should.

Worst ending ever. Made **** up. A failed surgery. How very creative of them!

While I do agree with you, that was stretching it a bit (but I mean complications do happen), it still ended how it should.

[spoil] It never would've made sense for Dexter to have a happy ending, for things to work out so perfectly. I think that if Deb lived and he went to Argentina with Hannah and his son, that would've been a god damn tragedy. Sure, it would've made me feel warm and nice for five minutes but **** that. I think this was the most realistic ending and what the writers had in mind [/spoil]

The whole Argentina thing was stupid from the very beginning. I'll type more in the morning.

Absolutely loved that show to death (as you can tell). Last two seasons completely ruined it for me. Awful awful awful. Was so good in the beginning. What a shame.
