Crease:

My opinion about Marty being involved is still there.

Especially the scene where he beat up the 2 guys who hu'ed with his daughter and the entire hallway was emanating yellow. The camera captured Marty from the bottom too, making him bigger than the guys. It implied power. They took a beating in the "king's" hall.

Tuttle has been on my mind the entire show. Glad they reaffirmed his involvement.

I also believed Rust and Marty's wife would get together at some point too, effectively ending their marriage.

My opinion is that Rust frames this in such a way that he makes Marty believe that he's killing off all the people that know he's the yellow king. He agrees to "help" but in essence in order to clear up all the people that could finger him.

I don't think this is a buddy-buddy cop show. True Detective holds a double meaning to me. Which one of them is the true detective? Rust. The title implies one of them might not be what they seem, i.e a detective.

Marty's yellow jail scene, coupled with the past developments about his family, as well as his inability to deviate from his flaws makes me believe that he's heavily heavily involved. He returns to the habit of cheating on his wife. He's incapable of stopping that desire. It wouldn't be a stretch if he's incapable of stopping a desire to kill women either.

The girl who Rust talks to looks horrified when she begins talking about the features of the "man with facial scars". She looks terrified as she looks into Rust's face and looks like she recognizes him.

The recognition could be association of Rust with pictures of Marty.

I think he's a part of it and I think Rust has figured it out.

I really don't think Marty is involved. And I'm hoping he's not. The fact that he couldn't even keep his lunch down after he beat those boys pretty much sealed it for me...He's a bad husband. A bad father. And a bad detective. But he's no kidnapper/murderer.

I see no reason for the subtle symbolism every time his character comes up, otherwise.

Unless of course, someone of his family is involved (i.e. his wife's father) and he's surrounded by this figure but doesn't realize it. Pretty much implying he's the key to the whole case.

Somehow, he is the key to this whole thing, I think.

Guise, I just realized this about Breaking Bad season 2:

[spoil]In the first episode, Walt calculates that he needs 737K to provide his family a comfy life. In the last episode, a Boeing 737 crashes.[/spoil]

Mind = Blown

Thanks for these spoiler quotes, Jabroni.

Edit: these don't work in mobile. Someone on HF needs to fix this.

Not to be a dick (I don't intend for this to be mean at all), but this is why I still never got the hype around Breaking Bad, having seen the entire thing.

What is so cool about that?

The same goes for the finale being called Felina. The directors are so witty!

Those subtle references isn't what makes Breaking Bad a great show.

I never noticed those until I came here and read them.

Yes, but it's that type of stuff on the show that gets more credit than it deserves (IMO).

Don't wanna get into a BB discussion though.

My thoughts exactly. Great show until season 5. Season 5 was WOAT. Exaggeration but I still didn't like it.

Breaking bad has a lot of subtleties. Especially with episode naming. They foreshadow a ton. Also, there's an instance of flashback foreshadowing in season 3 regarding Jane. It's pretty spectacular.

Ive been saying the same thing. Just got hooked on House of Cards though.

Absolutely start Breaking Bad. Nyrpassion this goes for you as well.

I, like you guys, also dragged my feet and debated. The first season is a little slow until episode7 and 8. Season 2 gets better. Season 3 everything starts to come along and season 4 is just spectacular. Season 5 is many peoples favorite. It's also disappointing to some. Depending on what you think of the final episode really.

The show is top 5 in the last 10-15 years, in my opinion. Even with my dislike for the end, I think it's top 5. And I'm excruciatingly critical of shows.
