Prospect Info: OT - The Beer Thread, Parte Deux

I'm a big fan of Old Chub Scotch Ale. Planning to have a couple at Bukowski's today before the Sox game.

Also, Jack's Abbey Smoke & Dagger for some of that fine local beer. Dark & Delicious.

Yes, I would like to go to Germany or Austria some day!

My roots are from Austria, so that is probably why I like German and Austrian beer.

If your are ever in Canada you should try some "Sleemans" beers....they brew excellent beers too.

I will try to remember that about the "Sleemans". If I ever get the chance I will grab one.

Drank all of the beers I bought today. Some I already knew, some I didn't. All good expect that Riegel, which was utter crap. I had to throw it away after two sips.
 
Turned 21 yesterday.

Bought Keystone and BL Platinum. Got a very special kind of drunk.

Anyways, today I bought a 6 pack of Shock Top Apple Wheat. Not too bad, although I'm not sure how I feel about it because it is VERY fruity
 
Good grief, Sleeman's?

Look, it's brewed in Guelph. But what else is brewed in Guelph? Wellington, which makes some excellent low ABV ales...Arkell Best Bitter, for one. Still in that very local region...Stonehammer makes an unparalleled pilsner. They also contract brew Macleans Ale, which when had on cask, is heavenly. Still in the region, Cambridge's Grand River makes brews that are simple but elegant. They turned me back into an appreciator of low-hopped beers...I had been trying to find the next Arrogant *******, but they make lighter ales and lagers...1913 traditional, Galt Knife, Hannenberg Pils.

Anyway, the beer snob in me says, get away from the macros. Go to your local brewery or hit the LCBO. If anything, you're supporting good jobs and the local economy.

For relevant NE content, I lived in Maine in the 90s. Ontario is just now catching up to what was happening in Maine and Mass back then. It's about time.

Hey be thankful, In Saskatchewan we're still a solid 20 years behind Ontario.

Thanks for the history lesson, but Sleemans, has been brewing beer since 1834 and have excellent tasting beers!...or should I say notoriously good?
Original Draft, Silver Creek, Cream Ale, Honey Brown Lager and IPA are my favorite selections, but I don't like Sleemans Clear.
 
If anyone has the chance to catch a bottle of Waldhaus Diplom Pils don't hesitate!!!
The rumours are true, it's one of the best beers ever.

Damn you 1st of May, because of you I cannot get more tomorrow:(

lagunitas sucks is good stuff, right up there with troegs nugget nectar, heady topper, & deviant dales. piney, hoppey beers that pack a punch.
 
I almost developed an addiction for Brick Red whilst visiting Boston, but sadly I don't think we have it here in the UK.

Back here at home I like Kopperburg cider or drink Morgan's spiced and coke. I've noticed it's taking me twice as many drinks as normal to make it thru a Bruins game on their current form, tho! :sarcasm:

I've been drinking 21st amendment a lot recently. If you run across them I suggest getting one of theirs.

Sam Summer was GOOD when I first turned 21 but seems to have regressed somehow.

If I go to my local pub I typically get bud bottle. Its a nice enough place but it doesn't have a great beer selection.

There are a number of good pubs that have a good rotating line but I'm always impressed by Kinsale, which I will go to before the game tonight.

That's exactly what happened to me also. My 1st experience with craft beer was actually a small brewery in the town I live in called Trout River. I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Now after growing in the the beer sense I think it's just ok.
