Someone had to go; however, I am surprised that Highmore is staying.
It's clear that Ostapchuk is not ready for NHL level hockey at this time and needs more time to develop in the AHL.
I doubt Reinhardt and Highmore are going to become NHL level talent.
He seems to have disappeared the past month or so. Prior to that at least he would show some defensive awareness.Have to say I'm pretty disappointed that Ostapchuk was up with the big club for over half a season and I don't think I saw him possess the puck for longer than a couple seconds in any game.
Would have liked to see any kind of flash of skill or offensive upside, but there was absolutely nothing shown after 43 games.
He'll play in this league due to his tools and defensive game, but I was definitely hoping he'd have more offense to his game. Looking like a Kastelic replacement at this point.

I don't know if it was coaching but Ostapchuk has one thing to offer this team, and that would be his toughness and aggression. We saw almost none of that during this stint.Ostapchuk was invisible. Every time he had someone in his sights for a good forecheck, it seemed like he backed off. I don't know, it's very frustrating to see this kid play so soft and be very scared of the puck.
