Someone had to go; however, I am surprised that Highmore is staying.

It's clear that Ostapchuk is not ready for NHL level hockey at this time and needs more time to develop in the AHL.

I doubt Reinhardt and Highmore are going to become NHL level talent.

Are we sure they were sent down vs papered down trying to save some $

Ostapchuk for sure will be right back up if he was actually sent down

We are still waiting to see if Norris, Pinto, Tkachuk are back and they need bodies

Felt there were many moments last game Ostapchuk could have provided energy and grit and some emotion but he’s playing like he’s afraid to take a penalty.

He deserves to be sent down, last night was a game he should of said “I’m going to impact this game whatever it takes”, he needs more Sam Bennett in him

Highmore I think makes the playppf roster, he draws penalties, he can make plays and he’s tenacious, one of my more favorite 4th liners on the team

Have to say I'm pretty disappointed that Ostapchuk was up with the big club for over half a season and I don't think I saw him possess the puck for longer than a couple seconds in any game.

Would have liked to see any kind of flash of skill or offensive upside, but there was absolutely nothing shown after 43 games.

He'll play in this league due to his tools and defensive game, but I was definitely hoping he'd have more offense to his game. Looking like a Kastelic replacement at this point.

He seems to have disappeared the past month or so. Prior to that at least he would show some defensive awareness.

Ostapchuk was invisible. Every time he had someone in his sights for a good forecheck, it seemed like he backed off. I don't know, it's very frustrating to see this kid play so soft and be very scared of the puck.

I'm actually not noticing a lot of development from ostapchuk and wonder if he would improve better playing top 6 power forward role where he can be a top pk, top pp infront of the net, and center the top 1 or 2 lines rather than play 4th line and just skate around, grind around and do nothing otherwise.

He seems to lack confidence. I was expecting more of a mike Fisher role. Was expecting something like 20 points in 65 games or something. Not 4 points in 43 games. That's Brian mcgrattan territory.

Surely he could gain by going to play in the AHL?

If we're to succeed, we need to develop him properly. That means his offense too. He'll never be a top 6, but maybe we should try to develop him into a 30-50 point 3rd line center. Someone who can get 15-20 goals on a good year.

He's not developing that game in the NHL right now.

It would be nice to get some healthy bodies back and not need guys like Ostapchuk and Reindardt in the lineup.

We obviously miss Pinto and Norris, but Cousins too would push one of them out.
