One of, if not the The weirdest first goal for a player ever?
He has certainly earned it though. Im pretty sure he hit the bar with that snipe late in the third aswell.
Very few mistakes from Steen, hes always looking around, very aware. High hockey iq.

Agree super high hockey IQ. Creative with the puck. Not to mention he has a wicked shot

Steen as looked good this year in his call-ups with 4 points in 5 games. The only game he didn't record a point was against Vancovuer where he played barley 7 minutes.

The most impressive thing for me though is....wait for it.....his compete level. The guys is always working his ass off and making opponents earn everything. He doesn't give up on plays and isn't afraid to play heavy game despite being 5'9 and 199lbs.

not sure I see top 6 skill level but been wrong more than right over the years here. It means he`d be going up against opponents more responsible lines and the ice gets smaller but what I do see is a kid who, almost every shift, does something well that gets noticed and not necessarily just in the O zone.

No fly bye`s letting a player make a simple play, takes good angles when attacking the puck carrier and most of all, willing shift in and out to get his nose dirty and while his 1st NHL goal wasn`t a beauty, he doesn`t score that from the perimeter

The Bruins are 4-0-1 this year with Steen in the line-up and 4-0-0 when Steen has played at least 10 minutes

I would say so, maybe this cancels out the Urho and JFK selections? Assuming he was part of that. JFK was another BIG miss.

Is JFK actually an Axelsson selection? He played in the USHL the season before he was drafted. Played another full season there, went to BU then turned professional. He was in Sweden before 2013-2014 so maybe Axelsson was a fan of him, but you'd think the bulk of his scouting was that season before his draft and he was here in the States.

And even if he was, it isn't really on the scouts or the club as to why he didn't work out. The story as I understand it is that the Bruins wanted him to play another year at BU as they didn't think he was ready to jump to the pros, but he insisted on signing and left college. We know the rest of the story, but who knows what might have been had JFK taken another year or two to develop, especially physically, at BU before turning pro. The talent was clearly there.
