That was my concern about Wright. I was thinking he really didn’t want to come back tot he OHL and would probably float around a lot and wouldnt’ care if he didn’t win because it would put him in the AHL/NHL sooner. I’m sure he’d feather play AHL playoffs vs OHL playoffs.

I wasn’t thinking about that for Harrison though.
Kids live in the moment in junior hockey. They get drafted to the OHL and continue to craft their skills on hoping it to make the NHL. They're pretty in content in their first year or so but once they sign that lucrative contract their real only focus is the getting to the show at that point. I mean sure every kid wants to win the Memorial Cup and add that to their resume but it pales in comparison to making it to the NHL....
I think (1.85 pts/g?) would require effort and focus in the games Wright played for Windsor.
If you add 2 D that can’t be described as shut down types to an already porous D and start a 17 yr old goalie, don’t be surprised if your playoff run is short.

I think my point really back then was whether he’d be willing to push through playoff adversity. At certain points in the playoffs, the team and individual players are tested and throw up against the wall. My question at the deadline was whether player like Wright would push that extra bit required or whether they would fold rent and go play AHL playoffs.

I didn’t expect the adversity in round one but based on the stats, it doesn’t look like he made that extra push. The problem is it was round one and none of the Windsor players performed so it is impossible to suggest Wright mailed it in when surrounded by under performing teammates.

I can’t say that I watched 240 minutes of that series, maybe 150-160; but Kitchener looked like they could sweep Windsor twice. Windsor might have been the actual 6-7 team in that conference.
I’m picking the rangers over the knights in six because their captain and probably most valuable player will miss the first two games.

Interesting but at the same time, teams like Windsor acquire players like Wright to be a difference maker. I’m not sure Wright was a difference maker. I understand a player can go in a scoring slump now and then so not a big deal there. That -6 is glaring. If you aren’t scoring, at least prevent goals.

Maggie was a -9 though. Is Kitchener really that good?

I felt this was a 3-4 seed matchup but it played like a reversed 8-1.

Again, I’m not blaming Wright but at the same time, good teams acquire players of his pedigree specifically to make sure these results don’t happen. I’m not sure we can simply let him off the hook so easily.

EDIT: Wright was on the ice for 8 goals against 5 on 5. 4 goals against were during the empty nets so if we take those ones away, he was on the ice for 4 goals against at 5 on 5 in the series. Not great, but not as bad as it seems.

Probably a bit of season long standing is not necessarily a true reflection of the team going into game 1 of the playoffs, and a lot of momentum, and confidence gained by Kitchener and/or pressure not to choke by Windsor.

It’s definitely tough because it would be easier to make an assessment on one single player not performing when others are performing but none o them did anything. So, really tough to judge.

I don’t understand this tweet. Cam Butler signed an NHL Entry Level deal which means he would be “assigned to Cleveland.” Where this ATO comes from I don’t understand. What is he trying out for?

Is this because his contract starts 2023-24? Maybe they don’t have him on the roster And the ATO is the way of getting him into Cleveland?

Gennies what's up with Tullio talking pulling the Gens out of Oshawa and moving them to Pickering in 2031 when the arena deal in over. ? Peed off at the Mayor and council from the article. Seems like a long way off from now.

I am asuming that with the drafting of two Euros that Gruber (a disappointment) and Parfenyuk are both history, if both report?
