So basically starting lineup will be very similar to last season with exception of Dach (hopefully, there are still 2 preseason games) being there and no Harris. And I don't even remember if he started last season.

Either way... same lineup. Same result. Bottom 5.

Armia probably moves up to the 2nd line now with Dach and Newhook. Better chance we keep Kapanen over here now, to give us an option for the bottom 6.

Hutson should help us. But definitely not enough to break out of the top 10 imo.

Another top 5 pick. I don't see the issue.

No way. Armia and Anderson should be piloting the third line with Dvo. Put Roy on that second. Keep Kapanen on the 4th.

It we can get Porter Martone, it would be some consolation.

I feel like Roy hasn't shown as much as I'd like so far in preseason. Armia looked decent with Newhook late last year.

I mean, yeah. I think they'll pass Philly and Calgary but the recent talk of them making some push to the playoffs with or without Laine seems super premature. I don't think one more really high pick is a bad thing for where they are currently

It was always going to be 'high' it's just going to be 'higher' without Laine on the 2nd line.

Looking at our schedule we will have a fairly decent idea of where this team is likely to land by the end of October.
Seven of Eleven at home two back to backs including an early three in four.
While six of those games are against playoff teams you can make an argument that Washington and NYI should be beatable.
A strong deep team would come out of that stretch with seven or eight wins. I'm expecting maybe five and a loser point or two.
Anything less than .500 would not be great.

I don't know what others think at this point but I'd be leaning towards splitting up our first line to help Dach.
I would also like to concentrate on getting our best options on PP1 regardless of where they live in our pecking order.
As much as our management would like us to believe they are forward thinking they are still old school when it comes to vets.

If the trend continues where PP2 looks more fluid than PP1 some vets may get frustrated knowing we could be better.
While I see spreading the wealth as a good idea 5v5 I'm not as convinced it's the way to go on the Power Play.
It will be interesting to see how long the status quo will survive because the fan base won't accept another year of the same.
Lot's of home games to start the year makes it even more intriguing.

Fixed with most likely projections given our string of luck
Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky (injured)
Newhook - Dach (injured back) - Anderson
Roy - Dvorak - Armia (jailed)
Gallagher - Evans - Kapanen
Pezzetta, Barre-Boulet

Matheson - Guhle (slipped on puck)
Hutson (got lost in the multiverse) - Savard
Struble - Barron
Xhekaj

Montembeault (became an auctioneer)
Primeau

With Laine most likely out…

CC Suzuki Newhook
Anderson Dach Slaf
Roy Dvorak Gallagher
Pezzetta Evans Armia

Matheson Guhle
Xhekaj Savard
Struble Barron

And we might actually see a 7th D being dressed since I have a feeling that there Xhekaj and Struble won’t finish the game…

I’m not sure I could make a list with players that have shown much this preseason. Goalies have been decent I guess. Hutson has been flashy but a long way from being a NHL Dman that doesn’t need sheltering. All the prospects were meh except Kapanen.
