Kevyn From Accounting decided that finding a decent vet to pair with Power wasn't important so he can play with Jokiharju (arguably the worst defenseman in the league) and drown at NHL level.
Also note how everything REALLY went to shit very early in the 3rd vs the Avs when Dahlin got injured and hasn't played since. Anyone who thinks Dahlin is overrated and not elite is a complete moron as without him we are worse than the Nolan MoJesus tank team.

There’s always somebody out there that would take a GM job. It’s like when someone joins a rando, irrelevant radio butt rock band like Trapt (or Puddle of Mudd lol) even though they’re shit and haven’t put out a radio hit in 20 years and their singer is a known piece of shit and difficult to work with. And also knowing they’ll be paid no more than the national average wage, if not even less because they’re a hired gun and the singer/only original member takes most of the money, which still ain’t a whole at this stage.
It at least gives them cred in their music career or so they hope.
And it’s probably still gonna pay more than whatever job they had with another team doing something else.

I wasn’t even kidding when I said last week that I expect nothing more than them to hire Patrick Marleau after firing him.

I actually remember Kevin Gravel from yearrssss ago. I just haven’t heard that name or seen it anywhere in years. He’s only played 23 NHL games in this decade, with the other 100+ coming between 2015 and 2019.
Yeah I remember Gravel too. The middle pair I know the names but know f*** all about them. Blakenburg was the captain in Michigan for Luke and Edwards freshman year and he was Edwards D partner

It also sort of is about money. The Sabres rank bottom five in money spent on free agents over the last few years, which is a far cry from when Pegula bragged about how much he’d spend when he took over the team. Now, whether that’s because he’s cheap or because players would rather drop dead than play in Buffalo is another story.
Either way, the Sabres don’t have an identity, and they never have in this extended playoff drought, with the exception of when they tried to tank for McDavid. And with Pegula as meddlesome as he is, I don’t see any GM lasting long enough to establish one that they desperately need.
