Yzerman should go, that team is GARBAGE outside of Larkin, DeBrincat, Raymond and Seider (I'm not even his biggest fan but it's still one of the better moves). It looks like a Lou post cap roster team. So f***ing unbelievable bad with the resources they had

So i take it you don't believe in the Yzerplan?

Never believed in him, he got a few lucky picks in Tampa Bay in Kucherov and Point in later rounds that he can't replicate ever again. Walked in with Hedman + Stamkos already on the roster. The Vasy pick was great but that draft was pretty shit anyway where he could make that dice roll. Very overrated GM for a few good things he did in TB. Also keep in mind, TB didn't get over the hump till he left for Detroit lol. TL;DR but yeah that's my rant on Yzerman :laugh:

I've been saying Yzerman hasn't been doing a good job for years now. And it was a very controversial to have that opinion here only one year ago.

The red flags started going off when he signed BEN CHIAROT to a 4 year deal for a decent amount. Yeah, I guess you could say we did it with Lovejoy (he only got a 3 year deal), but Chiarot is/was even then considerably worse than Lovejoy and that was just the first of several bad UFA contracts he would sign over the next several offseasons.

In the beginning I said it's unrealistic to expect sustainable success and playoff berths there before 2026, just because of how bad Holland left the place. He left it worse than Lou left it here. But Yzerman seems to have taken shortcuts in an attempt to speed up the process, which will ensure they finish between 7th-13th in the conference and not bottom 3 or a legit divisional playoff spot, unless it's a one-off like us in 2018 (even that was a wild card for us), which proved to be a extremely isolated occurrence for us.

I keep saying, I wonder if the shortcuts were taken under pressure from ownership to get to the playoffs and not go on an 8+ year playoff drought.

I just said the defense thing in a main board post, funny enough lmao. Yeah he's been dogshit in that regard, Detroit is gonna have to TEAR it down completely soon I think. They're so lucky that Larkin is a Michigan guy or else he would've been gone ASAP.

I was critical of him even early in Tampa for some of the weird things he did, particularly with the goaltending position.

Roloson at the 2011 trade deadline was a good move. It was a good move that ended up being a great move and was so great it led to overkill after that. Re-signing Roloson (who was about 57 years old) to another contract, on top of the only safety net being a mediocre Mathieu Garon (who was his goalie partner in Edmonton several years earlier) was something I was critical of at the time. He had a great run in the 2011 playoffs and I know teams sign old players like that after playoff runs all the time. Look no further than Lou giving Salvador a 3 year deal after the 2012 playoffs. Though Sal went to the UFA market and gor those kinds of offers, I'm pretty sure Roloson was signed before he hit any market.

After Roloson/Garon BLEW UP in their faces the next year, his next move was going out and getting the answer to my trivia question several weeks back in Anders Lindback. That wound up being another bust, but he eventually got it right with yet another Godzilla mattress sized goalie in Ben Bishop.

I don't think any of those were fireable offenses or anything, but they just left me scratching my head back then.

f***ing Rags won 4 to 3. Quinn Hughes played almost 28 minutes. I wonder if we will ever be that desperate to play Luke that much haha.

Hurricanes scored 30 seconds in against Philly. I just threw up in my mouth.
Honestly, I'm gonna be f***in irate if that shit ass team beats the Canes tonight (like they did to Tampa) if we can't also beat them tomorrow night. So at least I can feel a little solace if the Canes also beat them.

I won't be able to cope with the Flyers beating if we can't also beat them.

We're probably gonna get Spencer Martin tomorrow since Kochetkov is in tonight.

He did shutout Ottawa a few nights ago.

Remember who the head coach is in Ottawa though. Our offense was inferior to the 14-15 Devils during the 20 games where he ruled our bench last year.

We had someone delivering some chairs that we had painted so it’s on in the background while I move them around. Just checking every little bit .
Blackwood is playing over on the Dallas Stars channel right now!

By the way, I haven't watched much hockey this year outside of the Devils.

I'm not feeling other games. I don't really turn the TV on the other nights of the week. I watch highlights of every game for my goal reviews, but I really haven't watched much non-Devils hockey this year.

It's not that I've tried and can't get into other games, I don't have much interest in watching other games this year. I'm sure by the playoffs I'll watch other games, but this is rare for me. Usually I watch a game or two every night, even on non-Devils game nights.

The Canes are like the Islanders but with a little more skill. So painful to watch and they get away with a bunch.

What lol? I won’t make any claims about their entertainment value but the Canes are one of the top teams in the NHL.

That’s not “the Islanders but with a little more skill”. The Islanders never were a crushing possession monster with speed.

They clutch grab and interfere and channel everything into creating shots from anywhere. It’s boring to me. It’s effective. They aren’t possession monsters as I define that term. They don’t carry it in and look to make plays. They do some of that but they mostly try to create turnovers and just one pass and shoot. Explai to me how Kitkaniemi and Staal make skilled plays? They have Necas Aho and Svench and to a lesser extent Jarvis. Who is their big playmaker on defense, 809 year old Butns? If they didn’t have game management they’d give up 10 power plays per game

Brunette must have hit the golf course today.
I haven’t seen that happen in a long time. I’m sure it has.

I wonder what the reasoning was? With them being the road team and having to submit their lineup first, did they not like who they were putting out there after the announced Seattle starting lineup? And I also don’t know how many guys they switched out.

Obviously if a guy couldn’t go for injury reasons and was a late scratch, they could put somebody else out there. But I wonder what would happen if it was an equipment issue?
