lol Sorokin should call in sick Sunday.

Having your first (and possibly only) goal scored on you by Ovi being the record beater is not something I’d want to be a part of.

Roy will hate him for it, but I can’t imagine he’ll be in Long Island much longer anyways.
As a former rec league goalie myself, I'd have no problem with it (unless it was a garbage goal I let in). In fact, I think it would be cool to be a part of history like that.
I mean, if I'm letting in at least 1-2 goals a game, would be cool for one of them to be something important. I'd do everything in my power to prevent it from happening, but if it did I'd be a good sport about it.
Yes. Oates was a disaster of a coach and no one played well under him.
Lol. I don't even know what you're talking about. Only part i really watched was Milbury busting Ovi's balls for half assing it.

Back then nobody thought it was possible

I was fortunate enough to see Ovie tie the legend himself (Maurice) at the Bell Center. At this point, he had just secured #544. That was in 2016/17. Best part : I brought my grand-dad with me. He was 86 at the time. When he has a young student in MTL in the 50s, he actually saw the Rocket play, along with Boum Boum Geoffrion, Doug Harvey, Butch Bouchard, etc. So I'll always find it so cool to have seen Ovie tie Richard at the Bell.

That being said, it feels like all this was AGES ago when the great 8 passed that 544 mark. Now he's almost at freaking 900. He's a f***ing beast to manage to get to that even after his prime. And the best part : my grand-dad is still alive, witnessing greatness at 94 years old. Can't wait to call him on the phone tomorrow and discuss this. Vive Ovechkin. Vive le hockey.

Yea that is what I am afraid of, I got my tickets at $130 a few weeks ago, I am half expecting Ovi not to play or just not shoot it if he does just to break the record at home

If he actually plays, I don't think he would do that, he is too competitive.

But if they are planning to rest him for load management, I wonder if they would do it at that game to increase the chances he breaks it at home. I doubt it happens, because with how the NHL has marketed this I think that would sort of ruin the party. They still got him tying the record at home, and they would get to have his triumphant return right after breaking it.

The prices that people are paying tonight for tickets are crazy because of how there is no assurance he breaks it, let alone no guarantee that he plays. Some people have paid 1k per seat. Hopefully he breaks it and you have a great experience.

We had Washington in Ottawa late January, so I saw him score from the second row for $60. Can't complain about that. Probably the only time in my life I'll ever be happy to see someone score one against the Sens, but maybe my opinion would have changed it the Sens lost that one.

The one-timer only became a thing until Oates became the coach. He wanted to put him on the right wing to spark him, presumably and I think, it led to a power-play whereby his assignment as a left-circle power-play turret. Of course, based on recent experience, this wasn't his end-all-be-all.

That won’t happen but I wouldn’t be surprised if Roy (and Sorokin) treat this game like a personal challenge to keep Ovi off the scoresheet.
