So i take it you don't believe in the Yzerplan?

Never believed in him, he got a few lucky picks in Tampa Bay in Kucherov and Point in later rounds that he can't replicate ever again. Walked in with Hedman + Stamkos already on the roster. The Vasy pick was great but that draft was pretty shit anyway where he could make that dice roll. Very overrated GM for a few good things he did in TB. Also keep in mind, TB didn't get over the hump till he left for Detroit lol. TL;DR but yeah that's my rant on Yzerman :laugh:

Yzerman should go, that team is GARBAGE outside of Larkin, DeBrincat, Raymond and Seider (I'm not even his biggest fan but it's still one of the better moves). It looks like a Lou post cap roster team. So f***ing unbelievable bad with the resources they had
I've been saying Yzerman hasn't been doing a good job for years now. And it was a very controversial to have that opinion here only one year ago.

The red flags started going off when he signed BEN CHIAROT to a 4 year deal for a decent amount. Yeah, I guess you could say we did it with Lovejoy (he only got a 3 year deal), but Chiarot is/was even then considerably worse than Lovejoy and that was just the first of several bad UFA contracts he would sign over the next several offseasons.

In the beginning I said it's unrealistic to expect sustainable success and playoff berths there before 2026, just because of how bad Holland left the place. He left it worse than Lou left it here. But Yzerman seems to have taken shortcuts in an attempt to speed up the process, which will ensure they finish between 7th-13th in the conference and not bottom 3 or a legit divisional playoff spot, unless it's a one-off like us in 2018 (even that was a wild card for us), which proved to be a extremely isolated occurrence for us.

I keep saying, I wonder if the shortcuts were taken under pressure from ownership to get to the playoffs and not go on an 8+ year playoff drought.

I just said the defense thing in a main board post, funny enough lmao. Yeah he's been dogshit in that regard, Detroit is gonna have to TEAR it down completely soon I think. They're so lucky that Larkin is a Michigan guy or else he would've been gone ASAP.

I was critical of him even early in Tampa for some of the weird things he did, particularly with the goaltending position.

Roloson at the 2011 trade deadline was a good move. It was a good move that ended up being a great move and was so great it led to overkill after that. Re-signing Roloson (who was about 57 years old) to another contract, on top of the only safety net being a mediocre Mathieu Garon (who was his goalie partner in Edmonton several years earlier) was something I was critical of at the time. He had a great run in the 2011 playoffs and I know teams sign old players like that after playoff runs all the time. Look no further than Lou giving Salvador a 3 year deal after the 2012 playoffs. Though Sal went to the UFA market and gor those kinds of offers, I'm pretty sure Roloson was signed before he hit any market.

After Roloson/Garon BLEW UP in their faces the next year, his next move was going out and getting the answer to my trivia question several weeks back in Anders Lindback. That wound up being another bust, but he eventually got it right with yet another Godzilla mattress sized goalie in Ben Bishop.

I don't think any of those were fireable offenses or anything, but they just left me scratching my head back then.
