The Wings are trash, can't wait to see them flounder all year
Think Dr. Evil is the first head coach fired? I'm thinking yes.

And then maybe Yzerman after the year ends.

Maybe Yzerman gets one more year, but it's looking about over. The Red Wings were so FUBAR'd that I don't think they really should be super competitive yet, but he saddled them with a bunch of bad contracts and got them to the point where they can finish between 7th-12th instead of 12th-16th.

At least their fans got the Rasmussen emoting over Jack pic for the next decade plus. I didn't have a reason to dislike them but after the other night, I hope they stay irrelevant for the next decade which shouldn't be too much to ask for with their roster

Giraffe -2
Lyons- 0

They're beyond trash, glad to see Buffalo pull themselves out of that 0-2 hole. I can see them or Ottawa being the 5th Atlantic team this year to make playoffs. I think the Metro sends 3

Vitek having a game tonight as bad as any he ever had here.

He’s been insanely bad in this one. Some reel blooper reel stuff, including coming way out for a poke check and getting caught way in front of the net for an easy open netter.

And I wouldn’t at all be surprised if the Sharks haven’t won a single game by November 10th when they play us. They’ll be giving last year’s team a real challenge.

Whoever loses to that goaltending the Sharks have this are gonna have to demoted to the ECHL (it's definitely gonna be us ) Crazy thing Vegas is on a B2B and they're absolutely smoking SJ

It just goes to show how hard it is to start from nothing at all. The 2017 Wings draft is an all time bad draft, 2018 was probably worse (but was a worse draft) and the Yzerman Wings are still paying for it. And yeah, the Wings have been really unlucky to not win a lottery, but I think they came out fine with Seider/Raymond instead of e.g. J. Hughes/Stultze; it's hurt but it hasn't been an unrecoverable blow. They'd be a few wins better with the best player in one of the 2019/2020/2021/2022 drafts but it's not why they are where they are. It's the bad signings and terrible drafts pre-2019.

Early going in the standings feels mostly positive: the vibe going into this season from a lot of prognosticators seemed to be Rangers/Devils at the top of the Metro, Carolina still top three while adjusting to the changes and losses they've had, and maybe a scramble between the Isles/Caps/Pens for the fourth spot. Well, Pens look like garbage and the Isles are already looking very inconsistent.

Caps have been pretty strong and may be for real, but the bottom half of the division looking weaker buys the Devils time to get their game back after such a short training camp/condensed opening month without having to worry about losing too much ground on a playoff spot. Now, someone please start beating the shit out of the Rangers.

Just posted this in the mainboard GDT

The Oilers may as well put a bullet in all 4 kneecaps of McDrai if they plan to extend Skinner and give him a deal anywhere near as much as what the Kraken just gave Daccord.

They're better off going with a cheap, replacement level goalie like Pickard or the next version of Pickard than paying Skinner more than probably $2 million per.

Go ahead. Kill off the cup window for them paying Skinner a modest salary. Between that CHUMP Skinner and the buyout hit of Campbell that's a lot of dead money in dead weight goalies.

They probably won't win SHIT with Skinner as the starting goalie, but they absolutely won't win a thing with Skinner making a significant amount of money.

Trade him off, don't qualify him, whatever you gotta do. DO NOT give him a significant raise when his contract is up.
