i liked bahl and definitely think he has some room to grow, and i was never thrilled with giving up a first for markstrom so unless we have some solid playoff performances from
marky i don’t love the trade overall.
We had too much of an overload.

Bahl is certainly more expendable than any of Luke, Nemec, Casey and Dougie and Siegs are signed for 4 more years including this one.

And that’s also not including making other upgrades (like signing Pesce) on the other spots which just made Bahl expendable.

I think Keefe even said they had Kovacevic penciled in at the 7th D coming into this year. There was no room for Bahl, unless you were never making any upgrades, keeping him 7th on the depth chart or were gonna choose him over one of the 3 young defensemen who were/are all clearly better.

I think he could have a decent length career in the NHL like Jon Merrill, or he could wash out of a full time role within a couple of years.

i think bahl could be better than dillon by next year
In terms of tools he probably is right now. He almost certainly skates better and he's bigger and stronger. Bahl is just a bit of a gentle giant. Once in a while he gets riled up and can impose his will on a shift but he's inconsistent in that regard. He will continue to improve while Dillon continues to age. But Dillon is feisty which was needed on NJ.

That was always an annoying thing with Bahl considering how big he is. He would once in a blue moon show some meaness and you see the potential if he was like that more often, but then he doesn't do it again for weeks or months at a time.

He could be a good player long term, even better if he figured out how to be mean. But we needed someone that is going to be mean all the time.

Rempe is gonna end up like the last Rangers enforcer who did this type of shit.

Very soft goal by Shesterkin even if it was Ovechkin

I know we get mad about losing to the Caps and especially last year but they're legitimately good this year imo. Their defense is legit good and they actually carry play this year
They were legit bad last year. Probably should have been an 80-85 point team, especially with Ovechkin not scoring 40+ goals.

They probably had the best offseason in the league. And they cleared all the old, slow, has-been, deadweight, either in UFA (Pacioretty), LTIR (Oshie) or via trade (Kuemper), and while PLD's contract is awful, he probably helps them right now.

I don't think they're a contender, but they should be able to make the playoffs again.

Pretty simple, they have an elite HC imo, got rid of the deadweight like you said, their youth forwards got a taste of the playoffs granted they got swept but that taste made them hungrier coming into the year. McMichael looks great, just scored in this first period tonight. Mangiapane was a good move too. And the defense got revamped and way better.

Caps are playing hard. Will be curious to see what happens when they have to play a 7 games in 5 days stretch and guys are hurt. Chychrun just went down for the Caps. If more guys start wearing down they will come back down to earth. Good team but I’m not sure they are a 100 plus point team over the whole season.
