They deserve to make it. They can probably sell and still hold us off. Maybe not Pittsburgh though.
I think Pittsburgh is the only possible threat they have right now. Especially after they got 2 points to Philly's 0 the other day. Pittsburgh may not win that game if Philly hadn't thrown a start to their $5 million dollar third string (well, he ain't the third string no more) goalie. He was horrible.

The Islanders sucks. The Capitals suck as bad as Columbus, I'm not sure how they're gonna be an 80+ point team, but they probably are going to hit 80 points.

We're toast and Pittsburgh may be able to take advantage.

That's a pretty big maybe.

@Bleedred Watching Merzlikins rn, what do you think of him as a Devils trade target as the fellow goalie whisperer as much as I try to add my views on them as much I can here
He’s the type of goalie that lets in A LOT of just really super, just leaky; weird goals. Like kind of like Mike Smith in his later years.

Maybe he’s good enough that pucks just hit him, despite the fact that he gets beaten by a lot of dribblers and pucks from wayyyy far out. I’ve had him for a high percentage of goals stoppable most years he’s been years he’s been in the league.

He’s only had one really bad year in the NHL and it was last year, but I definitely think he overachieved in his rookie year, which was cut short by the Covid pause. His numbers around new years of 2020 I’m pretty sure were below .900%. And he had about a 5-6 week stretch of ridiculously good play, which I think he had 5 shutouts in like a 7 or 8 game stretch at one point.

He even started to come down about a month before the Covid pause happened. I think he went from like above .930% to .923% by the pause after going from like .899% to .930%+ from new years till mid February. I don’t have those numbers in front of me right now, but I’ve posted about it before, so just going off memory as best as I can. And if I’m not mistaken I remember a couple of the sites or at least one of them still had him as a negative in GSAx that 19-20 .923% season.

He’s playing about dead average this year on moneypuck and he’s a +6.59 GSAx for this year on evolving hockey.

I don’t like his contract. I’m not sure why Columbus put out the bulletin that they were trying to trade him, aside from to try and blow it up. He’s far and away the best goalie they have there and has been since Bob left. Save for the fluke up season Korpisalo had last year and the disastrous season he had.

It also came out that all of the team, coaches and management were pissed off about him showing up Tom Wilson earlier in the year. That’s when all the shit came out.

He’s a decent goalie, just on a not so good contract.

Anything is better than the fecal matter that is John Gibson.

He kinda reminds me of a younger Gibson that seems salvageable but yeah I don't think the Devils are the right team for him, we need a stud in net in 24-25.

He's not even an entire year younger than Gibson, even though it seems like he should be about 5-6 years younger, just based when each of them entered the league.

lol I had no idea about that, but yeah feels like Elvis is way younger. Gibby broke into the league relatively quickly after winning the 2013 WJC with team USA

Rangers barely hanging on, could have lost 3 to Lumbus this season

They are the same team as last year. Goaltending and the PP is what they will have to rely on in the postseason

Yea Tampa is not that great by any means whatsoever. But they just spank the devils pretty much every time they face off, which is just ridiculous. Even last season they gave the devils big problems. And this year it’s been worse. Brutal.

Well they don’t face off again until next year or the playoffs

Cement feet Ollie maata with half his season total in goals tonight for the wings

Smh
I didn’t even know what team he played for this year. Wouldn’t have even known he still played in the league.

Check out the Steggygasm on his first career goal

Goal 1 of a storied career which has seen him add another almost 40 more in 11 years.
