I still don't understand why they had those center ice seats tarped for both games. It being just to have trees there would certainly be a choice

Apparently some sort of renovations. I think the espn crew said something about that today.

Also, Jonas Bros was 100% added on to fill in more seats and to give them an excuse to close off a few sections as they were having issues unloading the full inventory. NHL probably expected more Orange to travel in. That was an 85% Devils crowd.

But 70,000 is still a serious number

I see those articles about plans to remove the seats for that now but from looking at it there and on TV it looks like the seats are all still there so I'm not sure.

And absolutely, the only sections I really noticed that look scattered were the 300s behind the goals which really are some of the worst seats there with how high the 300s are in that dump. Metlife really sucks and we all got scammed when you compare it to the other NFL stadiums that got built in the same time frame.

It's legitimately insane it got the World Cup Finals over Sofi or Jerry World

I heard that it was because they were willing to make modifications to the arena that the other venues wouldn’t, because the changes will reduce seating capacity for multiple seasons before the World Cup even starts. So basically MetLife got it by default.

They can pamper all the business people easier here in NYC and it's a quickish ride. The same bs that we see anytime there's a big event here.

I'm going to every US game played for this world cup since it's gonna probably be a once in a lifetime event for me. For the final I don't see myself going for what the cost will be to get into the building unless insane miracles happen and the US makes it which case f*** it I'll pay whatever to be there lol

i was at this match in detroit 94. they could only use the silverdome for the first round of games as the temporary real grass surface couldn't survive beyond that indoors.

Do you remember how much tickets cost? Probably was cheap/reasonable compared to what this is gonna be lol

i dont know off the top of my head... i was 19 and there was a bunch of people involved, my dad, uncle...brother.....

...i might have my ticket stub in the box of every show or sports event i went to....but i'll guess it's a f***ing relative drop in a bucket to prices in 2026.

Presidents Day in the USA.

It's a federal holiday over here, but a decent amount of people still have to work. Schools are closed, so people can take their kids to matinee games without having to worry about them missing school.
