This is what I was saying before. Don't call it a Rangers road game and treat them as if they are home team.

This whole stadium series should've just been Devils vs Flyers. You don't need to include the Rangers in everything. This was New Jersey's weekend and it should've just been a Devils game vs one of their biggest rivals.

It was weird watching New Jersey staples being showcased in a game with two New York teams today. New York always gets their moment, this weekend should've been exclusive to New Jersey.

with the teams all so close to each other it kind of has to happen. it's a huge undertaking to set up outdoor games and might as well play two (yes, that's a cubbies ernie banks reference)

as much i don't care for other fans, it allows everyone to enjoy/experience an outdoor game.

I kind of like all the Jersey love for a Rag's game.

I guess it makes the Rag's fans feel welcome in Jersey, but I think it also reminds them that this is not NY.

I also think playing 2 games makes sense, if you're setting it all up, why not?

All that said NHL trying to play that off as a Isle's home game? I call BS on all that.

They have to, the Rangers can't be the home team anywhere but MSG but you know they're going to cater to one of the biggest fanbases in the league. It's horseshit but you know their casuals would bitch, their diehards wouldn't care

the rags could have played ANYONE that is somewhat local today and it would have been fine. Boston, Washington, Pitt, hell, even Montreal. Like I said, god forbid the Rags are asked to give up a home game, so the Islanders are suckered into being the home team for this Gary event. I would have told Gary we are good, invite the Sabres instead

Part of me is glad we didn't get the Rags this weekend but that was the obvious matchup to have off of our insane playoff series

I don't say this in jest either, that might be the worst loss I've seen as a hockey fan. Only two ones I can think worse are the Bruins losing the Cup in 17 seconds and our 4-0 choke to Winnipeg

We still had our teams moment and everything is not forgotten. I wouldn't get swept into the thinking anything was ruined, we had a great and significant game on Saturday and everything momentum wise is still there from the victory.. Let the other tristate teams have their games, good for NHL anyway.

Nothing ultimately for NJD or NJ fans to prove here or be in comparison with.

None of their outdoor games are home games?

I forgot, but Bleed said that dev's rags was a dev's home game? That's even worse then this one.

Flyers was the perfect opponent. Helps fill the stands, but won't dominate it.

Nope, but they have their stuff so the fans don't feel left out. They were the road team in 2014 versus us/Isles, they were the "road" team against Buffalo at Citi Field, and then now today

None of their outdoor games or Europe games have been home games. MSG got a propert tax break from the City in the 70’s (about the time the Giants moved to the Meadowlands and they were floating idea of the arena). If either the Knicks or Rangers play a home game outside of MSG, the Garden loses the tax break.

When they did the Winer Classic at Citi Field in 2018 they made Buffalo give up a home game and they were the designated home team. The Devils and Islanders were the home teams at Yankee Stadium.

Sounds like some bullshit explanation for the NHL to rationalize pacifying Dolan and giving the Rangers favoritism. There's just no shot that the wording of an agreement from the 70s that grants MSG (not the Rangers, but MSG) a tax break is defined broadly enough to prohibit one-off Rangers home games outside of MSG.

Then take into account that someone in the administration for NYC would actually have to enforce it, revoke a 50 year tax incentive for a one off game played in the city, and then deal with the headache of potential litigation...

Yeah, that's just the NHL's excuse to make Dolan happy and ensure that the Rangers have extra home games.

when the rockies moved to jersey and became our devils an indemnification fee of 12.5M was paid to the rangers in 1982 dollars...(40M in 2024 dollars if this online inflation calculator is right)... the isles and flyers also got money with brought the toal to 20M.....not my money but...... f*** them

Islanders were probably happy to give up a home game with the rangers when it is probably 80:20 rangers

I don’t get them playing the rangers goal song today. Did they for the flyers last night?
