I would also have Dallas as my pick for cup winner this year.

They’ve been close. Seems like a matter of time.

It could be ownership won’t give him permission to can Lambert if they plan to move on from Lou at seasons end.
I think it’s more likely Lou doesn’t want to admit a mistake after punting Trotz into an upstairs job

It’s not like Lambert is on that much money or term where they couldn’t punt him, maybe another year left at a million or two per?

The Islanders (and Capitals) are two of the teams in the East that just seem utterly and incredibly pointless right now. And just a complete waste of time. Both teams.

There's several of them over in the West, particularly in that Central division. St. Louis SCREAMS pointless and a complete waste. Nashville is another. Although, I did feel like Winnipeg was also in this category before the season started. I'm sure they're only serving as inspiration to Armstrong and Trotz to prolong their own mediocre operations.

Minnesota is kind of in that category too, but thanks to their horrible start, on top of their recent slide after the Hiney Head/coaching change bump in the middle, it looks like they'll be finishing under 500 this year. Which is better for them than whatever the hell the other 4 teams I've named have been doing.

God forbid a couple of those teams actually make the playoffs, just to get scorched by whatever top/higher seeds they face. I'm pretty sure it won't be cimematic like Florida vs Boston last year. Florida won the Presidents Trophy the year before. They underachieved last regular season just to squeak into the playoffs.

It will be overachievement for any of those teams to make the playoffs.

Not going to lie, I’m a little jealous they got this guy for 3 years/ 1.1m in the 2022 off-season.

And before people claim that’s team defense…

I honestly think Kuemper is about done.

I actually suggested that to be possible at the end of last year. He was looking like he was outta gas in the last month or two of the season last year.

But I also thought Lindgren may be phased out and thrown into the AHL as early as this year. The Capitals actually did that Pheonix Copley after a year (that was when Samsonov debuted) and Justin Peters (anyone remember him?) almost a decade ago.

But Lindgren doesn't have a young, up and comer behind him like Copley (Samsonov) and Peters (Grubauer) did.

He has the 40 year old rookie...... Hunter Shepard........

The Western Wild Card race is underwhelming as usual.

Edmonton is a strong team but they’ll end up in the Pacific top 3 soon enough.

So there’s

LA - Scuffling. Last 10 (1-5-4).
I don’t know enough about them to know why. (Other than their coach is a f***ing Loser.)

Nashville - Similar to the cold you can’t shake, no one hangs in there these days like the Preds.

Arizona - They aren’t all that good but they finish, and get pretty good goaltending, and that wins you some games.

Calgary - Arguably the worst team here but their shooting and goaltending is hot.

Seattle - 11-2-2 after an 8 game losing streak, the Kraken might save us from having to pretend Arizona and Calgary are playoff teams. Also shooting hot and getting excellent goaltending but better than the two meh squads above them.

St Louis - JFC, I’m I supposed to take this team seriously? Their goaltending is keeping them respectable because they don’t a whole lot of defending.

Minnesota - They too exist.

I’m not sure how much longer those LA Losertodds will be the LA Losertodds.

I haven’t peeped Cam Talbot’s actual numbers, other than when I do my goals reviews and he’s not having as many 1 and 2 goal against games anymore.

But his really big Vezina candidate play from the first 2 months or so has assuredly experienced the old market correction somewhat?

Just looked. Not bad at all. Still a .915%, but I think he was like a .930% for a long stretch at one point.

There’s only two more head coaches I can see possibly being fired before season’s end (unless someone really bottoms out like when the Sens fired Guy Boucher In like February or March that year) and that’s Tmac and Lane Lambert, only because it’s Lou and Friedman somewhat implied that Lou already had his finger on the button for that before they somewhat turned it around. Back when there were chants for his firing.

Of course Detroit wins in OT, not our year
I don’t think it’s their year either.

Still not sold on them.

First things first.

Washington and NYI both plummet first. They’re the two biggest frauds still alive in the East.

Stars/Blues for rooting guide tomorrow
A St. Louis and Washington home and home? Those might be the two least interesting games in the league for the entire week.

Both teams are such a waste and useless. They’re keeping themselves stuck in the mud.

it doesn’t matter what other teams do - if we are behind detroit, washington and NYI then we don’t deserve the playoffs. we’re giving points away to shitty teams like they’re free samples at costco that’s the story of this season

I don’t even wanna watch any games tonight. It just causes a bunch of anxiety.

I’m in full DD mode tonight. Everyone we need to lose will get points/wins and that’s probably what’s gonna happen.

Arguably two of the most boring games in the league all season long happen over the next three days.

Blues @ Capitals

Capitals @ Blues

Leafs - Flames could be entertaining, especially with a Leafs loss, lol. I think Keefe is likely fired soon. But yeah, scoreboard watching can drive you nuts.
