Some of that can be attributed to coaching imo but yes they need to get to those areas more frequently, it's growing pains with this core. They'll get there, I don't mind their stars not doing it, but next to no excuses for our bottom 6 pieces to think they're Jack or Bratt

Bratt was better on the boards than people seem to think this season, he came away with the puck more than Timo did in board battles.

I want to see Timo inprove here, he doesn’t have the Small Boi excuse and he lost so many board battles it was ridiculous.

I had the same thoughts. Tampa are so top heavy that no matter how good of a period you have, you give them one chance and usually it ends up in the back of the net. Their top guys are some of the most talented in the world and proven playoff performers. As long as Vasi can keep the games close they have a very good chance beating anyone even though I picked Panthers to win.
I begrudgingly picked the Panthers.

They SHOULD win this. If they don’t win this they’ll never beat Tampa in a playoff series this generation. Maybe in decades from now. If they lose this then I think there’s a better chance this current Tampa team gets blown up before they beat them in a playoff series.

I’ve been saying, they were way better off playing that chump Toronto team without Nylander and with the sieve Samsonov. But they swooped in to win the division on the last night and get wild card one which was Tampa.

Wow, I somehow thought Panthers beat Tampa one of the years but they havent. This just makes this series even more interesting.

I also think on paper Panthers should win but its gonna be a big mental challenge and Tampa has nothing to lose. No clue how FLA handles the pressure of being the favorite. They were the underdog in every series last year.

This has been a great game so far
Enjoy it. A lot of us will be taking a (involuntary) nap when the next one comes on..

This is only their third meeting I think. Both were in back to back years before last year. This is the third time in the last 4 years they're playing.

They were swept the last time, which may or may not have gotten Brunette canned. There were times in that Washington series in round one that year where the Panthers looked like they were gonna blow that series. I think Washington were about to go up 3 games to 2 before Florida tied that one late with the goalie pulled and then won in OT, where they went up 3 games to 2 and won game 6 to win the series.

And that was a Caps team that was already in decline and their window was already shut. They hadn't won a round since the cup finals 4 years later. The Panthers were swept the next round by Tampa.

They put up a fight in 2021 though. I think that series was tied at 2 after 4 games, before Tampa won both games 5 and 6.

Very fair, I'm gonna blame that mostly on Timo not having his MCL's for majority of the year. He was very good there in the Carolina/Rags series. I have a very good feeling we get playoff Timo Meier for 82 games next year or at least the majority. Like I said, I don't have a problem with Jack and Bratt not winning them, they do stuff that the other forwards can only dream of pulling off so they get a pass in my book with the board battling stuff.

This game doesn't have a lot of passion for an in state rival playoff game....seems pretty pedestrian honestly.

The two games last night looked like a war compared to this game ...maybe the juices don't flow this early on a Sunday?

I thought you were talking about the guy who was on CBJ for a while but I realized you meant Lustoranien LMAO
Yea I wasn’t even going to try to spell it lol

It’s been pretty damn testy, each team has thrown almost 50 hits lol

Definitely not, think about the Rangers Devils games that are matinee games. It's the same lull/lethargic games versus 7 pm starts. These guys are probably hungover as shit out there

Another icing? It's gonna be a little surprising if Tampa doesn't tie this. They've been pinned in over and over the last 5 minutes.

This is a way too early goalie pull down by one. This could be to the Panthers advantage if they can hit the empty net.
