Wedgewood was never ever really good. He had a good stretch last season with the Stars and that’s about it . Other than that , he is too inconsistent and is nkt really a 1B goalie.
GMs place too much value in goalies that have a stretch of 10-20 good games or a decent 1/2 season and think they are the next Brodeur.
Only elite goalies in the league right now are the ones that have been very good for more than one season in a row. For me it’s guys like Vas , Saros , Hellebuyck with guys like Sorokin and Sheshterkin lookig like they are that as well. Guys on the bubble for me are Demko and Ottenger.

Thats why Brodeur is the best ( IMO) goalie of all time. He was elite year in and year out ,consistently for his career. (Minus his last year due to age etc.) Hate to say it but Lundqvist was like that too . Solid for years .
His good stretch last year was with the Coyotes, but he played well in Dallas also, but he played way more games for Arizona.

He's definitely not a 1b goalie, but is he even an NHL backup? I don't think he will be for long. He's already 30 years old and his first season where he was a full time NHLer was at 29 years old.

Technically his age 28 season he was in the NHL the entire year, but that was a gimme because everybody was allowed to carry 3 goalies because of covid.

His AHL career started out poorly, which I constantly cited on here. He got a little bit later on in the AHL as he started to get older.

Lundqvist was definitely one of the more consistent goalies. He didn't have a mediocre season until 34-35 or so.

Luongo was also extremely consistent until the last year he played in the NHL at 39 years old. He really didn't even have a bad season before that. Maybe his first year as a rookie with the Islanders was kind of meh and he had a meh season in the lockout year of 12-13 in limited games played.

Florida is getting done even dirtier by goaltending.
Pity.

Saw Knight was in there and was hoping he'd take the net from Bob soon.

Well the Sens got one called back for goalie interference so it doesn’t look as bad but the second goal wasn’t good IMHO.

Also Ottawa scored 2 goals on their first 3 shots in 2nd after having 4 total shots in the 1st. The Sens gotten into the game more since then but the shots are 44 and 17.

The Florida announcers are ohhing and ahhing all the opposing goalies: Forsberg, Hart, Stalock… All the giants.

Man, f*** those Florida announcers. Or at least Goldie. He's such a f*** and a pompous dickhead. And he's really got a case on himself, as he loves having his picture taken so much. He's got all these pictures on instagram walking onto the bus with his coffee in his hand like it's a GQ shoot.

Yeah, the second goal on Knight sucked. I thought the second and third goal on Forsberg were both bad. He was pissed at himself after he allowed that second goal. The third goal was a one timer, but he was there for it and in position and it goes through him. I know he's faced 20-something shots each period (I think shorts are 46-18 Panthers after 2), but two of those goals weren't great. He's played decently this year and I don't have him down for many goals stoppable. I think only 2 before today.

I've been watching Lightning/Sharks, but I try to real time my goals videos as much as I can on these game heavy days when there's not many games going on earlier in the day, so I don't have to binge watch goals from 12 or 14 games at the end of the night. Both goals on Vasilevskiy were bad ones.

And here's a bad one on Reimer to make it 3-2.

I feel like I count a higher percentage of goals stoppable on Saturday's for some reason. Typically in matinee games as well. That's just what it feels like to me historically.

I've tagged all 6 goalies (actually not Oettinger, there's been 7 goalies, I forgot he started the game and Wedgewood didn't) that have played today with at least one goal stoppable.

Vasilevskiy, Wedgewood and Forsberg all with 2 so far.

Why's everyone convinced Spencer Knight is the next great goaltender again? He was pretty good in the WJC if I remember correctly, but he was the goalie of a stacked USNTP team right, maybe that made him look better than he is/was?

Or maybe he's 21 years old and in the NHL and the NHL is difficult...who knows.

Staal might have distinctly kicked a puck into his own net. I assume that’s allowed.
I don't understand how Eric Staal can't get a contract for the NHL at all last year and now a team that's an aspiring contender brings him on, after an entire year out of the league and close to 1.5 years older.

I know his brother plays for the team and all but...... he shouldn't be in the league anymore either and has been a SHIT defenseman for at least 10 years now, but that's a whole other topic.

How did Scott Wedgewood have a bad game? He’s not in our system anymore.
It's not like Scott Wedgewood had an .893% season in the AHL the last season he played there in 19-20.

Oh, wait, yeah he did. And SPOILER ALERT: It wasn't even with the AHL Devils. Nope. It was the AHL Lightning in Syracuse.

I've had the Wild/Wings game on in the background for maybe 5 minutes and Ken Daniels has called Addison "Anderson" at minimum 4 times already

I mean shouldnt we root for Philly to win this one? Theyre gonna regress as the season goes on but any points Canes lose is a plus. They are the playoff team of these two.

I'm not sure the Canes will end up in a wildcard position, so I don't think it'll affect us if they win.

It’s too doggone early to worry about the OOT scoreboard except for Ranger games. Never too early to kvetch over that but in general I ain’t bothering with worrying about other teams till January or so

Sabres come back to tie. No surprise, the Hawks are no-count and this goalie is Jon Gillies bad.

Would like to see the Predators beat the Caps but I’m pretty sure they only got one win on North American ice after beating the Shark tank twice in Prague.

But like I say, they’re the greatest mediocre team in the league right now, which is very fitting as their general manager is the greatest mediocre GM of all time.

David Poile’s GM career is like Gaylord Focker’s 9th place ribbon. “I didn’t know they gave 9th place ribbons?”.
