Most players have off days. Bellichick pulled Brady at one point afibst Nee Orleans on an off night. It happens. It’s just that thr press tries to push thr buttons on Torts because it’s decent theatre at times.
Not unlike daily interactions on this board with people always looking to push each other's buttons. But it's more fun to feed the Torts beast.

The only reason I do center ice is because I don’t have a smart TV, nor a game system to get the games on a TV. I like a big screen and not a phone or tablet. My computer isn’t reliable enough to watch live events. It’ll freeze up, I’m lucky the damn thing still works at all.

It’s not center ice, as much as it’s my provider and for some reason there’s been so many glitches with it this season so far. It wasn’t going on back when everyone was getting the free preview, but it’s really gotten bad the last week.

Just drop 20 bucks on a Roku or FireStick.

Damn Kessel is way closer to 1k point that I would have assumed. I honestly though he had like 790 if you had asked me.

Underrated player, I think. Even with the lack of defense, physicality etc.

I guess another "weak" goal by Jarry?
He sucks so much. I can’t believe this jabroni is in the league with all those goals he allowed in the 2nd period of his game tonight.

It may have knocked his save percentage down to .918% over his last 60 games.

What’s our shit bag goalie’s save percentage over his last 60 games? .891% lol.

And he even he allowed 6 on 47, the same night Blackwood allows 5 on 18.

Torts is exactly what these crybaby athletes need. Sports have become so player controlled. Regardless of your status, if you’re dogging it, you should sit.

We’ve had coaches like that. Pat Burns being the most famous. Jacques Lemaire to a point, but much more nonchalant and low key about it.

Hearing Gomez and Elias both tell stories about Pat Burns on the podcasts were kind of fun. He wasn’t well-liked by the players, but he was well-respected.

If I recall, Gomez said he spoke to him days before he died and he apologized for being so hard on him and Gomez said “f*** you Burnsie! You made me who I am today! Don’t ever apologize for that!”.

Patty didn’t seem to have as nice of a closure with him, other than his wife telling him years later that “I know he was hard on you, but you were actually one of his favorites”.

Pat Burns might have been the most Torts coach there was before the actual Torts.

He was much more friendly to the media though and not as crabby in the post game pressers. He did give a couple good ones though. The best was when he brought a copy of the rule book to his post game presser in Detroit and quoted something out of the book. I forgot what happened that night that he brought the rule book. Maybe a disallowed goal off a skate or maybe they scored a goal against us off a skate or it was kicked in? I don’t even remember, it’s been 20 years. But he said something like “But this is hockey town! And we all know funny calls happen here in hockey town” there would be a main board thread 100 pages long if that happened today.

It wasn’t quite as controversial as Torts saying Pittsburgh whines about everything, but I couldn’t believe it at the time. And Detroit was coming off a cup win the year before that.

I respect them all. Coaches coach. Players play. No one else could f around at their job and expect no consequences. Go Torts!

I honestly had no idea that Kessel had an Ironman streak going. Kind of one of the last guys you would expect, since he doesn't exactly scream toughness.
That plus he isn’t really in the NHL anymore since he got banished to the desert
I think a lot of is also because he probably gets a lot heat for not having the most impressive physique and a pretty high body fat percentage relative to most players in the league.

If you really wanna feel better about Blackwood, then watch highlights of the Stars vs Senators, where Wedgewood allows FOUR stoppable goals (every he allowed) and two softy of the night candidates.

His glove hand somehow looked worse than Blackwood's.

Man goalies are so hard to get predict . Consistency in net is very rare now days. One game a gaolie can look like they will never give up another goal I’m their career l then next game they can’t stop the pick if their life depended on it. Maybe not that extreme , where it might be a 10 game stretch of dominance, followed by 10 games playing like shit. Or even season by season . Some guys will have an overall good year then next season their career falls apart and they bounce around forwhile bedore they are out of the league….
I don’t know if it’s scouting that eventually uncovers weaknesses or just some goalies neig memtally weak where their confidence goes to shit or what it is.
Is way rather have a consistent “good“ goalie than one that is either the next coming of Marty Brodeur one night , then plays like Richard Brodeur the next .
Look at how Markstrom and Demko are playing this year… They were top goalies in the league last year. This year , they have been shit with maybe one good game mixed in. I’m sure they will bounce back but still, it’s way too inconsistent.

Nah… we just do fly-bys hoping the puck comes out to us. We have no one that stands in the crease for that long.
I think Mercer and Hischier will. The problem is they are mid-sized players. It's why Nj will throw a less skilled guy like Bastian out on a PP from time to time. If NJ can get a really big player with skill and heart it would really help the offense.
