Calder trophy - Norris Trophy - Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup....

Just a ho-hum first 3 years.

.910 in 22 games is much better what Kuemper put up. Murray and Binnington also had good Cup runs even if theyve fallen off afterwards.
As I pointed out earlier, Niemi had a + goals saved against average in the 2010 playoffs. It was only like a +1.3 GSAA, but it was still a +.

Between Francous and Kuemper they were a -6.2 these playoffs not counting this game. Kuemper was a -5.2 GSAA, which probably comes below -5 back into the -4's with tonight's game.

Fleury in 2009 was a -4.7 when he won the cup. Colorado overall will still be worse than that between the two goalies.

As I pointed out earlier, everybody else back in the day when they had .880-something save percentages and won the cup (Grant Fuhr) those were above average in those eras.

Grant Fuhr's .883% in 1988 was still a GSAA of +4.6 or something. All of Fuhr's playoffs where he won the cup he had a positive GSAA. Same with Billy Smith and Ken Dryden in all of his cup playoffs.

Jonathan Quick in 2014 was a -0.6 GSAA in those playoffs. Martin Jones 55 minutes of 0 goals allowed brings their combined GSAA to a dead even 0.00 GSAA for those playoffs.

I love how they brought up the change in team building with the Avs winning the cup. Good thing the devils are already built like that.

Who said that?

I never thought he was a liability.

He's a very good player.

At the same time, however, he's not exactly a candidate for the Lady Bing if we're being honest here. #dirtyPOS. :teach2:

Enjoy your cup win, Nazem.

At least, unlike Ray Bourque back in '01, you earned this.
he's talking about getting suspended for multiple must-win games over the past few years

Oh really? THAT is what he's alluding to?

And whose fault is that, that he got suspended? :squint:

Certainly not the people(whoever they are) that said he was a liability.

I mean..if we're being honest here...if you're not on the ice and available to play, you actually *are* a liability to your team.:teach2:

So the criticism wasn't exactly uncalled for in those instances.

Sounds to me like he's just venting here just to vent and say "I told you so" as if anyone of the naysayers gives a s--t (which they probably don't).

Now that I look at it

Binnington’s :914% in the 2019 playoffs was still a -2.0 GSAA.

Still not on par with Colorado/Kuemper though. 2009 Fleury was probably the only thing almost as bad possibly ever. But Garon’s relief appearance and 0 goals allowed that playoff year makes it a little better, while Francouz’s -1.0 GSAA brings Colorado’s GSAA even lower in addition to Kuemper’s already poor GSAA.

I don’t know on that first goal, it’s a wicked one timer into a small area on a cross ice pass. That he even got the blocker on it was amazing. I think that’s the reason it looked like he should have had it. A lot of goalies don’t get near that shot.
Good call.

After looking at that again I can’t give him a stoppable goal on it.

It didn’t even go through his arm, which is what I originally thought happened. Even the announcers did, before realizing on the replay that it did not.

It just barely hits his blocker as he’s coming across.

We are going to get a laundry list of injuries from them. They’ve played 3 very nasty series this playoffs. It’s catching up with them.

He was on the winning team the 3rd year.
Not only 3 nasty series, but the teams they played were maybe the best teams in the playoffs. They are the first Stanley Cup finalist to have played 4 teams that all had 100+ points in the regular season.

Leafs - 115
Panthers - 122
Rangers - 110
Avalanche - 119

That's a Hell of a mountain they were asked to climb.

So no one has ever had to play four 100+ point teams and they had to play four 110+ point teams? That's pretty crazy

Obviously Colorado has a ways to go to become the "new" Tampa, but it did kind of feel like a passing of the torch from the team everybody has been chasing for the last few years to the team everybody could be chasing for the next few years. I think it was about the best matchup we could have hoped for. Colorado/Toronto or Colorado/Florida could have maybe been more "exciting" from a speed vs speed perspective, but there's just something about having to beat the champ to be the champ in the Cup Final that feels good from a story perspective.

Ironically the last time Colorado won the Cup we were on the opposite side of beating the champ to be the champ.
