I really do not trust Colorado's goaltending. They've went 12-2 these playoffs with .901% goaltending, which is really a testament to just how good that team is.

If they can score on Tampa and Vasi as much as Toronto did in the first round, they should be able to win the series, even with not great goaltending.

I don't at all take Francouz seriously. I thought he sucked last round. I think you could have flipped Mike Smith and Francouz's teams last round and the result is still the same. There's no doubt in my mind that Colorado still could have made the finals with Mike Smith in net, as he played better than Colorado's two goalies have over the entire playoffs.

There were games where Smith and Francouz had the same save percentage in that series, but because Smith faced more shots than Francouz did, he allowed more goals.

Kuemper wasn't any good either after leaving the first time with the eye injury in round one.

Even in the Nashville series, 30 minutes of David Rittich to start the series was probably the only difference between Colorado's goaltending being better than Nashville's over that 4 games.

Now, with all of that into consideration, as I have said numerous times, Brodeur has lost playoff rounds to the likes of Damian Rhodes, washed up 34 year old Tom Barrasso, Kevin Weekes, Bob Esche, Ray Emery and a really washed up Brian Boucher. And outside of maybe that last one, Brodeur wasn't even in his declining years in any of those. I consider his decline to have started early in the 2010 calendar year. Hasek has lost playoff rounds to a couple clowns.

So it's entirely possible that Kuemper (or even Francouz, although much less likely with him) can randomly outplay Vasilevskiy for one round, but goaltending has not done them any favors these playoffs.

that goal is gonna be controversial for la long time
Still doesn't look controversial even today.

There was no distinct kicking motion NOR did Stamkos do a gray-area "re-direct" with his leg.

It just ricochet'd the same way a puck would ricochet off the end boards or something.

It just went off of Stammer's leg.

Only RAGS fans would be calling it "controversial" simply because they lost and now have to put on their Yankees/Mets Jerseys.

you know, I hadn't looked at any stats or anything from this playoff run. You'd think from the way that people were shoving "the kid line" down our throats that these guys were putting up some tremendous stats.

They COMBINED for 23 points in 20 games between the three of them, and one was a healthy scratch in an elimination game lmao

get the hell out of here

I'm always for the Rangers losing, but something about this year feels especially good. I work in retail at the Jersey shore and there has been an absolute TON of customers wearing Ranger apparel in the store the past few days, it'll be interesting to see if that fashion trend declines :naughty:
Be prepared to see an influx of Yankees and Mets jerseys with ZERO Rags Jerseys.

The game is more than points. When they were on the ice they controlled the goals at a 2-1 rate. That’s incredible

Thank the lord the NY Fugazis lost. Such an unlikeable team with Trouba trying to injure guys daily, and the puke Lafreniere trying to chicken wing Hedman.

But seriously, how bad of a team are you that your goalie is literally stealing a goal per game for you and you still lose the series. Comical.
I read this in Tony Soprano's voice. :sarcasm:

I never want to see a Franchise that retired the Jersey of Ray Bourque (as if he played his entire career with them) win anything.

Same here, we should have won in 01, f*** them. I'd rather keep Colorado at 2 cups then have them tie us with 3. I don't even hate this Tampa team even though I don't like some of their players cause that 18 Devils team barely even made the playoffs.

Yeah I still dislike only two players (Hedman and Kucherov) who almost made Nico unable to have children(stick to the nuts) and Vats unable to stay conscious (dirty hit).

Aside from those two, I am indifferent to the team and also I would love to see another actual DYNASTY occur which is so difficult to do these days.

Cooper is a big tactical advantage over Bodnar. But it may come down to how much Point can contribute.

Colorado is one of the best teams I’ve seen in the cap era. It’s crazy how little respect they get (analytics community aside). I think about 2 out of 15 experts on ESPN picked them to win the cup at the start of the playoffs, which is insane.

They’re substantially better than Tampa and they should take it to them, even without Kadri and Girard. I still think Tampa will steal a couple games to make it interesting, but Colorado is just a machine.
Oh I 100% believe that Colorado wins this and they're the best team in the league. I just don't think Tampa gets smoked or massively outshot as a whole.

The Colorado hate is weird. Like I get that the whole Bourque thing was incredibly lame and stupid, and they denied the devils back to back cups…but that was 21 friggin years ago. If I was making a list of most hated teams/players, they wouldn’t even crack my top 10.

I have a ton of respect for both teams. Vasi is going to be up there with the all time greats when all is said and done. Mackinnon and Makar are generational talents.

This series is going to be really fascinating. Colorado is easily more talented, explosive, and proven than any team Tampa has faced in the previous 11 series wins. Meanwhile, Colorado hasn’t had to face any team with the winning pedigree and level of defense of Tampa. I’m very curious to see the degree to which Colorado’s high octane play style can be stifled. Tampa won’t allow a run and gun tempo; between that and Vasi is it enough to beat Colorado four times? The other factor is…Tampa just knows how to find ways to win and they’re never rattled.

If Colorado wins this thing it will be a helluva statement about just how good they are. If Tampa wins, they are truly going to be in the top echelon of greatest teams in league history.

Colorado has not faced a team of Tampa's caliber. Most specifically, they have not faced a goalie in the same league as Vasi. Should be interesting to see how they respond to a team that can actually defend and a goalie that will make some spectacular saves.

Round 1 still annoys me. I don't want to ever see Domingue on NHL ice again that was a positively grotesque performance.
I'm a bit over it now, but that pissed me off so much to the point that I would rather see that f***ing worthless jabroni NEVER see another NHL payday than get the joy of watching us score 10 goals on him in a game if we got to play him next year. I would get more satisfaction out of him never seeing another NHL payday than getting to watch us torch him in a game in the NHL.

It wasn't enough that we had to endure 16 games of his .882% goaltending in 19-20, which is actually even worse than Gillies 19 games of .885% here when you realize the league average save percentage was actually 2 or 3 points higher in 2019-2020 than it was in 2021-2022.

And then he goes and he allows a game winner in game 6 when his team has the lead that was as bad and goofy as the goal he allowed in Hynes last game here.

Bourque was one of the stupidest and most questionable jersey retirements ever (from the Avalanche, not from the Bruins), but I'm way over that.

If we were mature enough to root for the Kings in the 2014 finals, just two years after we lost to them, I think we can get over Colorado 21 years later. Now, if it weren't the Rangers, Devils fans probably wouldn't have been rooting for the Kings in the 2014 SCF, but my point still stands.

Yeah, the Bourque number retirement was really dumb, but I don't have any kind of disliking for them anymore.

They were actually kind of my second favorite team in the late 90's, only because of Claude Lemieux. When Claude Lemieux left, I didn't really root for them anymore and of course it was here that he came back to. I then adopted the Sharks as my second favorite team in 99-00, who I've always been a much bigger fan of than I ever was of Colorado.

I picked Colorado because Claude Lemieux was there and we missed the playoffs in 96, so that was my bandwagon team and I would root for them in the playoffs the next 4 years when we were out. They luckily won the cup the year after us and that was their first year in Colorado. My step brother is from Denver and I went to visit back in 96 and got to see the Devils play the Avalanche (1-0 win where Steve Thomas scored the only goal with about a minute left in regulation) at the old arena a few years before the Pepsi/Ball Arena/whatever was built. That was their first year in Denver and maybe a month after Patrick Roy was traded there.

I loved watching Roy's meltdown in the last 2 games of the 02 WCF, when they were up 3 games to 2 and looked like they were going back to the SCF, but they got Hasek'd in the last two games of the series. Roy had the AWFUL ''Look what I got'' in game 6 where he dropped the puck out of his glove and it was a Red Wings goal after he was showing off. And then he got destroyed in game 7.

It also felt good to see that, it also felt a little good to see them lose to Minnesota in 2003, after having what I think was a 3-1 lead in that series in the first round. After that they didn't really have much success in the playoffs for a VERRRYYYYYYY long time. And Roy retired after that series.

Their best non-goalie player and captain from that team is now their GM (and holy shit he looks so f***in old and decrepit already in his early 50's), but other than that, there's not too many people left that had anything to do with 2001 still left there.

Patrick Roy - I don't know where the hell he is since his brief head coaching stint there not too many years ago. He's probably still a juniors coach in Quebec

Bourque - Probably went back to wherever the hell he was before his very brief stay there

Forsberg - Probably somewhere over in Sweden. He didn't play a game that finals and he may even been out that entire playoffs. I forget?

Hejduk - Probably somewhere over in the Czech

Rob Blake - Current GM for the Kings

Chris Drury - Current GM for the Rags lol

Adam Foote - Apparently he does work there in some kind of role. They were interviewing him on TNT during one of the games in the WCF. His son plays for Tampa, for what it's worth.
