I think they could have beaten Montreal in the SCF, although Montreal did somehow get through a couple of better teams than them
In Toronto and Vegas.

I really couldn’t see either the 2021 Canadiens (the WESTERN CONFERENCE champion Canadiens LOL) or 2021 Islanders as cup champs. But one of them would have had to have been the winner.

"Somehow" Price turned the clock back to 2015 for 3 rounds. That's the reason.

Tampa has stopped the rags twice in the ECF, I absolutely love them
And the Islanders two years straight.

Even though I’m sure people still root for Lou (and some of our fans root for the Islanders anyway) it would have been unbearable if the Islanders got to even one of those SCF’s.

“When are all of you “Team unsustainable” people gonna wake up and just admit the winning culture over there is real? You keep telling us how unsustainable they are and how they’re ready to plunge and they just keep winning. They have that winning culture that we gave up the minute we fired Lou. If we would have kept Lou we could have eventually brought Trotz here and got to more Stanley Cup Finals/won more cups but some of you spoiled brats wanted to be finished with him just 3 years removed from a cup finals!”.

Although claiming that Lou eventually bringing over Trotz would have really been ironic, considering Lou could have tried to hire Trotz his last offseaeon in charge after Nashville fired him immediately after the season ended, but Lou opted to bring back DeBoer, who he fired over Christmas break lol.

lol I honestly think the Rangers would've had a far better chance with Ruff as their coach. Their offense at 5v5 would've flourished more. The Rangers were no better than us defensively this year. Even if they were slightly better Igor's there to mask any defensive deficiencies

You aren't wrong tbh, he was there for Fox's first year and the use of DeAngelo on the powerplay. Their xCF has been pretty bad the last 5 or so years. Shesterkin would also be the perfect goalie for that system.

Thank the lord the NY Fugazis lost. Such an unlikeable team with Trouba trying to injure guys daily, and the puke Lafreniere trying to chicken wing Hedman.

But seriously, how bad of a team are you that your goalie is literally stealing a goal per game for you and you still lose the series. Comical.

NY Fugazis? who?

i prefer the real deal from DC

They weren't much better then us 5 on 5 offensively either. In net and the PP was the major major difference

They straight up weren’t better than us offensively at 5v5. We were SUBSTANTIALLY better.

11th in CF/60 vs 31st
11th in xGF/60 vs 28th
7th in SCF/60 vs. 28th
8th in HDCF/60 vs 20

When it comes to goals it’s 12th vs 21

All of this is with Jack being injured a decent portion of the year and Dougie not being himself because of the injuries he played through. The Rangers were one of the healthiest teams in the league. Our 5v5 defensive numbers were better as well.
