Thompson for the Knights is going to be a good goalie . He is very solid amd I’m impressed with his poise , style , athletic ability.
He will be a legit starter . Hawks goalie on the other hand….
Doesnt look good at all. He made a lot of stops tonight but his lateral movement is trash . Lots of times he lost his net and over slides and over commits a lot. Isn’t really square to the play some times . When he goes down into the butterfly , his upper body slouches and leaves a lot of net showing. Not impressed at all with him.Thompson looked the complete opposite. Square to the play all the time . Good lateral movement . Doesn’t over commit .

You are absolutely spot on with Lankinen.

I don’t have him with a very high percentage of stoppable goals, at least not for how poor his save percentage is, but he loses his net constantly. It would be confirmation bias if I nailed him on those, some of them I have when it was way too obvious, the same way o would nail any other goalie on the same goal, but there’s a lot of times I haven’t.

That Martinez goal (I think that’s who it was?) was horrible though. That’s probably a softy of the night contender, but I’m not sure it’s quite softy of the night.

Min 15 games only Gillies has a worse GSAx/60 than Lankinen. Blackwood’s 9th worst of 67 and Daws is 11th worst…

Wow

Wedgewood was in net with a 3-0 lead after 2 periods and wound up losing 4-3 in OT for a team that isn’t the Devils?

I thought we were just making him look worse though?
That game score allowed me to discover that Travis Boyd is not only still in the league but somehow, after scoring in OT, has 16 goals.

And has 34 points too, after scoring 41 points in 124 GP. (Plus 1 goal in six playoff games.)

Travis f***ing Boyd. Arizona truly is the Island of Misfit Toys.

Edit: I checked and he scored a goal against us? Twice? Including one in game I was at? That’s how boring Travis Boyd and Coyotes are, I memory holed all that and only vaguely remembered him being on the Caps.

Is it embarrassing that I don’t even really know who he is? I’ve seen him playing for the Coyotes, but I don’t really have any recollection of him before this year.

Every time I try and think of him, I keep thinking of Boyd Gordon, who also played for both the Caps and Coyotes, just like Travis Boyd.

Oh, he’s a total nobody scrub, which is why the 16 goals stuck out at me. My reaction at first was who? But then I vaguely recalled him the Caps. No reason to know him.

I then looked up the Coyotes lines and saw he played on their top line lol. And he centered a top line with Ritchie & Schmaltz when we recently won 6-2 in Arizona (and he scored the 1st goal!).

He centered a line with Keller and Schmaltz when they beat us 4-1 in the ridiculous game that got Blackwood shut down (he scored the 3rd goal!).

He’s a random 28 year old 4th liner who averaged 8-11 minutes of TOI in earlier seasons and was picked off of waivers by Vancouver when Toronto waived him at the end of 2020-21 season.

So one would totally expect him to be averaging 16:47 minutes a game in a top 6 role this season.

Next season in Arizona is going to be lit.

Rittich allowed a REALLY BAD goal like the one Lehner did against us where he wasn't paying attention and was totally clueless to it going in. Like another controller disconnect goal.

I'm not sure if it's softy of the night caliber or just a bit unlucky. It wasn't quite as bad as the one Boqvist scored on Lehner because it came more out of nowhere, but it was bad.

I'm also surprised the one person isn't asking anybody to eat crow because Rittich beat the Avalanche last night and is going to the playoffs.

@Bleedred You must be having so much fun getting ready to completely go in on Vek after that Yotes game lol
I’m all caught up. Probably won’t type it up till tomorrow.

Barring the Sunday game with Grubauer, Merzlikins is gonna edge out Vejmelka by one goal. Grubauer needs 4 to edge out Merzlikins.

A couple weak ones on Vejmelka and 4 goals on 6 shots, but Ingram has been a disaster.

Nashville is like the playoff version of our team with these goalies they got with Saros out.

Nashville blows a 4-0 lead to Arizona to lose in regulation. Will play the Avs in round 1.
Avs in four is too easy of a prediction, so I’ll say Avs in five.

They did beat the Avs in a shootout last night and without Saros, but that don’t really mean shit to me. They did win the season series 3 games to 1 also. For Colorado to lose to Nashville (without Saros, no less) this would be a bigger bust than when Tampa got swept by Columbus.

Without Saros (I’m not sure if he’s completely ruled out or not?) I can’t see Nashville sticking around much.

Rittich and Ingram are like if they threw Blackwood or Daws out there or possibly even nearing Gillies/Hammond territory.

If Oveckhin is healthy enough and even a bigger IF (if) Washington gets average goaltending they are sending Panthers home.

I think this is the year the Panthers make some noise in the playoffs. That team has too much depth for Washington. Despite Washington being the playoff tested team I think Florida takes them out.
