How has Jordan Spence been in the minors this season?

Would he have definately been in the NHL this season if it wasnt for LAs depth?

  • Great.
  • Yes.

Concurred.

To add--there's really not a whole lot more he can do in the AHL, he's just there getting big all-around minutes since that's more productive than sniffing around the edges of the NHL roster. Can always learn and get stronger, solidify defense and systems play though.

Keep in mind he's only a second year pro--was nearly PPG (42 in 46) and +18 as an AHL rookie and now he's 2nd on the Reign only to TJ Tynan in scoring, EIGHT more points than the next closest d-man in Grans...and theyr'e only 10 games in! He's also tied for 3rd in AHL dman scoring, with only 2 fewer than the leader (AHL vet) in one less game. And that's just his offense, the dude is solid defensively and only getting better.

Really the only thing holding him back is his size/strength but that Spurgeon comp I've been tooting for a while may be closer than I thought.

Spot on as usual, but I have to disagree with the last part... The only thing holding Spence back is Edler or Walker :D

But you're right, adding size and strength while dominating in the AHL is never a bad thing at his age.

Not sure how they're going to do it, but if LA keeps Kupari on the team when Byfield returns, my only gripe would be having Spence still in Ontario. Other than that I think management has it right in terms of the players that should be in the NHL.

Surely he'll get some time later this year, but he has to be a full-time player next year. He's good enough no doubt and proved it last year (less the playoffs).

We are taking a lot of penalties. No flow to the game. Our PP looks like the big team, irrelevant for the majority of the two minutes.

Clarke has looked decent. You can see they are targeting him a bit after scrums.

Turcotte is starting to get his feet under him.

Chromiak looks 20 pounds light.

Ward is a big man.

Helenius is tall but has to add weight. Skates well.

Byfield seems to take weird routes and bobbles the puck a lot. Needs to just use size and speed.

Grans has been a pleasant suprise. Feet faster then I remember. Made some nice blocks. Nice long stick.

Fagemo has been invisible

Can’t remember who 22 is but not impressive

Spence has been blah

Toby looks good.

Reign do not have elite goaltending and all of their good front line players and D do not matter because of it.

True but that is an opportunity to display defensive and offensive prowess as configured by good coaching. Not seeing it this week.
