Goodness gracious. Colorado in 1!!! 10-1 and Turcs will probably be out for eeeever. Can we send Byfield and Vilardi down since they probably won't see another game with the big club.

Looking at those "high lights" is really tough to watch. Lots of Hickey and Grans getting burned.

Hope Turcs is ok. Young kid and those concussions(?) are very scary. You just hope for his well being at this point.

Didn't the Reign have a better record? Unlikely the Eagles were going to won 10-1 too. Don't have to win 3 of the next 4, just have to win the next one, etc, etc, blah, blah.

Even with those 2 and just for the heck of it, add in Durzi, Spence, Kupari and Andersson (since all played in ONT this season) I still don't know if they could beat the Eagles in a series. Of all the games I've watched this season they gave the Reign the most trouble.

With that lineup though it'd be a fun series. They probably would've lost 10-9.

That is some F**ken horsesh*t hits on both Turcs and Hickey. Hickey's hit was clean and dude just straight checked his stick to Hickey's face, and Turcs just got cheatshotted again. F*** that. POS only got one game. Someone on the Reign looking at you Doty, better do some face rearraging after the suspension. I'm beyond pissed.

Can't watch the game but just from the box score looks like a lot of rough stuff in the 1st period. Bring the pain boys! #winitforturcotte

They just want the prospects to absorb the atmosphere not actually play.

Glad you said it. I have felt the second they decided the kids were not going to play for the big club down the stretch, they should of been playing down in the A.

the organization gets a big fat F on that from me.

Crazy they had the best PP in the league and the best percentage since like forever too. Playoffs is just a whole different animal.

Those suspensions sum up everything wrong with hockey. Getting one game for intentional, controlled assault in that manner is why players do it - they essentially get away with it. It has nothing to do with enforcers or fighting because 100% both guys would have been happy to fight after doing what they did (no idea if Doty dressed but it wouldn’t have mattered). Players that do this crap are never deterred, just in case they have to fight.


If they start giving out punitive suspensions, and I’m talking 15 games plus, then it’d stop. Why? Because the guys that do this run the risk of never getting back in the lineup. That’s what’ll make them think again.

One game? The league should be ashamed of itself. The fact it’s a play-off game doesn’t make it remotely ok.

The only good thing at the moment is that Thomas now has 4 goals in 3 games (not sure why he missed one), which is a real positive. If he can have a really good off season he will get a long look in camp.

Nice to see Sparks play also.

On the other hand, you don’t have the instigator and you have someone go beat the piss out of their best player and tell him that was for that hit. His teammates aren’t going to be happy with him after that. Imagine, McDavid getting shit pumped by a guy like MacDermid. His teammates are going to be pissed a scrub like Archibald created this shit show. Or you have 2-3 different guys fight him over the course of a game. No instigator, no game misconduct. Really make him pay over that game and potentially a second game.

Completely agree though 1 game for this kind of stuff makes zero sense. Let the players police themselves if the league isn’t going to protect them.
 
I don't know how the NHL and AHL coordinate on this stuff, but the NHLPA(is there even an AHLPA?) has to sign off on any suspensions or fines to be put on the books. If they're against increasing either or both, likely due to money lost by their members, what can you do?

Letting players police themselves, while fun, doesn't work. The 80's for example were some of the most violent times in the game. It deterred nothing.

Yeah until the PAs are comfortable hitting individuals in their pocketbooks/livelihood HARD, these things will continue.

LONG suspensions should be a thing frequently.
