Frk just took a pretty rough crosscheck in the ribs and had to be helped off

...and they gave each 2, Frk for embellishment, even as he went down the hall, lmao
 
Terrible read by Grans in the 4v4, JAD went 1v3 and turned it over, somehow Grans and the other forward got caught pressing even though they weren' tin the play, Bako now within 2.

Worst kind of play, where neither guy was in the play to help JAD nor were they on defense to stop the numbers...low IQ/effort stuff. Make an aggressive mistake, or play too conservative, fine--be completely indecisive and stop moving your feet, not acceptable.

Wrobo has been laying into the refs since the Frk call.
 
So Frk now has what? 8 goals in 9 games?

His last NHL stint he had 6 goals in 17 games (29 goal pace).

At some point you've gotta consider giving him a cup of coffee. But he's not waiver exempt, and I'm not sure where he fits in the lineup.

He was waived to get down to Ontario, so he should be fine within the 30 days/10 games rule for recalls. I'd assume he's gone from LA after this season regardless at this point, I can't see him resigning here with the talent we have.

When Vilardi clears Covid protocol do you think the Kings send him to the AHL to get back into game shape and maybe get his confidence back?

would like to see Frk on his line to see if the chemistry is still there

I like Frk but injury, I think, scuppered his chance. I wouldn’t begrudge him another look but I think the best thing for the organization right now is for him to be where he is now. He is such a threat at that level and really helps round out the Reign roster as the main trigger man.

As you say a few games from Vilardi down there, if just to get his legs back under him, may be a great idea. Perhaps a chance to get Gabe a few games at wing with Wrobo coaching him, without NHL pressure, so he isn’t worried about making mistakes.

What’s the overall take with him now? At one point he was looking like ECHL material but now seems to be a solid AHL guy and someone that would never be above 4th on the depth chart. It’s probably too early to decide but he definitely seems to have taken a step and become relatively consistent. That said, I cannot see how he ever makes it to the NHL, baring Covid hitting all 3 of the other guys at once.

To be fair to Villalta, he's only played 54 pro games over 2+ seasons, which is really only the equivalent of one full season as a starter. The numbers look good this year in a short sample and it seems like consistency is his biggest issue, but I'd definitely give him this year and possibly next before making a call on which way to go with him.

He seems to be a little more consistent. He was always capable of the random big save. But he always had odd breakdowns letting things squeak through. I'm still nervous every time I see him play. You know what? My best comparison is Labarbera. Completely capable of taking over a game, but much more likely to let a goal or two in by default on random medium-danger chances. And if I see a guy in the high slot with a clean shot...it's a goal. I don't think he's NHL material based on that alone, I'm not sure I've seen a pro goalie get beat by more straight shots.

Thanks. I didn’t bother with AHL tv this year due to the poor camera work and it’s difficult to fairly assess anyone with highlights, especially goaltenders.
 
And if you notice I'm saying Turcotte's name more than others it's not because I'm focusing on him, he's just doing that much and that involved in freaking everything, the guy has his finger on the pulse of the whole game, he's got that Doughty 'third assist' problem lol where everything rolls thru him even if he doesn't get the point.

JAD just keeps getting better. Nice roof shot for the goal.

Edit: And now a second roof goal for JAD.
