Really? When season started I think Kaliyev was pretty bad along the walls, but now he is decent. End of season he is going to be at least average, maybye clearly above average.

He's definitely better, but I wouldn't call him sufficient yet. I also agree that by the end of the year he's going to be above average. He's really improved in every aspect of his game, almost amazingly. All those reports of bad board play when he was a draftee were spot on, but so were the reports of him being able to pick things up quickly and get better.

This team is absolutely willing to put guys in if they aren't 200-foot players, it just depends on the player. They are willing to do it with Arty because he's young and has tremendous upside. Not so much with Tckachev because he's 26 and has a more limited skill set.

I'd argue he's actually made some excellent plays lately, plays I never thought I'd see him make at the pro level (checking and taking puck).

Arty's development has been the best of any prospect this year, you can just see things moving along in the right direction. I was not expecting him to learn the more difficult aspects of the game more quickly. Also a major nod to Durzi in that category. He was a structureless mess when he came up, but he's been adjusting as rapidly as I've ever seen with a D prospect.

It’s probably not a popular opinion but I like keeping his minutes down so that we turn him into a player that can play in all situations. With his offensive talent you want him on the ice in clutch situations so having him work on rounding out his game is a good thing IMO. As his game improves he will start getting those harder minutes and we won’t have conversations along the lines of “if he’s not scoring, he’s not helping”.

Not sure if anything is brewing, but the Reign have back to back games today and tomorrow and are far as I can tell, they only have 5 able-bodied D men.

Moverare
Spence
Phillips
+ 2 PTO's.

Wolanin=Kings
Gaunce=injured
Strand=protocol
Grans=WJC

Maybe one of Gaunce or Strand are cleared?

And the Kings on an east coast trip with only 6.
Too bad they waived Clague instead of Maatta. Maataa definitely would've cleared.
Can Thomas play D again? Maybe coaches won't want him to take unnecessary hits back there.

The way Maataa is playing now I think it was good decision…

Kings recall Moverare, Spence from AHL's Ontario Reign - LA Kings Insider

Ontario Reign Projected Lineup vs. Barracuda; With Notes on Turcotte and Defense

Looks like Spence and Moverare are called up to the Kings. So the Reign will have a patchwork D, possibly with two PTO guys and one forward playing back.

I just got the AHL package for the Reign because they are having a 15% discount. Maybe I need to cancel it, it might get ugly. :eek:

Unless I missed something, Evander Kane should be in the line up for SJ. I think he had like 4 pts in their last game or something.

3 ONT dmen i've never even heard of. Gonna be a blood bath

The number 2 pick in the 2020 draft and he's not in the NHL and Lucas Raymond is tearing it up...someone had a brain fart
