No surprise

Player have no interest in making deal

Goodbye 2012-13 NHL season

Yeah Fehr knows the league locked out a season, to get a linked to revenue cap.He knows they will lockout a season to protect it. It must be they plan on the 2 year lockout. They know the owners won't cave to save one season. I'll bet come summer 2013 Fehr still hasn't made a linked to revenue proposal.

Owners wont cave period

If Fehr and players actually believe the owners will cave they are idiots

And the NHLPA will start to splinter because the guys not good enough for contracts in Europe will eventually turn on the stars going over there

****ing idiots.

The owners continue to try and make things work and the players act like greedy *******s, sit there with arms crossed and shake their head no.

They don't want a cent less then last season...and the NHL showed them the books where it was not sustainable...and they still take that stance?

Bunch of ****ing idiots.

At this point best case senario is half the season....or whatever the minumum the league will allow for an official season to begin. It's basically October now and nothing is close to being negotiated let alone finalized with the laywers. Not to mention a short training camp will be another couple-few weeks. Fehr has made it clear he is not going to negotiate, he's not all the sudden going to do 180 and get a deal done. He's in it for the long haul and saving face and not losing will be important to him and his legacy.

Exactly my thinking. The players won't be able to miss two years without splintering the union. I really don't see that happening. I doubt they'll be able to miss all of one. The owners may not be happy about it, but they can outlast them and they will if they have to.

Could not agree more. Dunno what the PA is thinking frankly.

And that's why I think the players are delunsional if they think the "holdout" game will be worth it. They tried it before and it didn't work, how many players want to flush another season down the toilet to get a worse deal then they could have had if they would have just negotiated instead of playing chicken.

The owners will be just as angry with Fehr as they were with Goodenow because of his tactics and will not let him get his way. They can't, they have to set a precedent that playing the waiting game won't work.....even tho they already did this once, maybe the players need another lesson before they smarten up.

Will you guys ****en relax?!?! Let the meetings play out and follow the MLB races/playoffs coming up and NFL. God damn....

We don't want MLB and NFL though. We want the NHL and until the stubborn NHLPA loosens up, there's no hockey.

Can someone please explain this to me

The NHL made 1.3b and players made 1.89b

So simple math:

1.3b/30 owners = 43m/owner after all players costs are paid.
1.89b/700 players = 2.7m/player

If the owners actually made 1.3 billion after they paid players, doesn't that mean the owners made a profit? Or are there other costs that aren't included? Like GM, Coaching Staff, Arena ? Band Aids? or are those all included and the owners are left with 1.3 billion?

Also the 1.89 billion for the players, does that get shared ? OR is that what all the salaries in the league add up to?

Thanks

But I thought the PA wanted to play and negotiate and were willing to play ball or something stupid like that?

Please get rid of Fehr before the season is lost.

These things take time. Both sides need to play their games and posture. Same thing occurred in the NFL and NBA lockouts. They won't offer their best deals until a few months from now.

Tell that to Giroux, J. Bernier, and anyone else who is getting tired of the Fehr act.

I was speaking more in regards to how the NHL lowering the amount of money they want back isn't really much of a concession when the PA disagrees with the entire premise of simply giving them money in the first place. It's supposed to look like a concession, not actually be a legitimate one. Holding a gun to someones head and demanding 200 dollars, instead of 300, doesn't make you a cool dude.

In May,Bettman was discussing the NHL has never been in better financial situation and in September Gary is crying poverty. Look at the the projected revenues for the NHL for the next 4-5 years and tell me its not sustainable. This will be a $5B league in the very near future.

Out of the 1.3B, owners made a profit of about $200M. So their costs other than player expenses were 1.1B.

Gary Bettman and Don Fehr had a private conversation today on CBA issues. Saturday NHL and PA will talk about the league economic framework.

In french he tweeted it would be HRR definition.
