Pre-Game Talk: One more at home, then on the road again. Vs FLA, @CHI, @MIN, @WPG

So confused on what is happening with Mittlestadt for the past month of so. Reminds of Stastny, our little casper when he went on those cold streaks. I think being a playmaker first hurts him a lot during these times since it looks like he's not doing much out there.

Miss this version of him

Confidence is a tricky thing. He was so able to thread passes through guys last year, now EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM gets intercepted for a turnover.

Feels like he's just not moving at the same speed. Look at how much faster he gets the puck off in those highlights and how much quicker he is on his feet.

Something's gotta be up. He's looked insanely slow the last two months, slower than usual which is usually pretty damn slow. He looks like he's skating in quick sand every game.

Either he's hurt or he's out of shape.

My guess is the former, he hasn't looked as good since he took a big hit early in the season (but he's starting to slowly look better again)

If it's the latter, if the offseason Mack needs to hogtie him and force him to train with him and Sid

I have a hard time believing it's because he's out of shape because he started the season quite strong. So unless he just let himself go mid-season and abandoned whatever diet he followed in the offseason, his slump probably isn't a result of being out of shape.
