Once again, skidding into the playoffs...

Anyone who thinks Buffalo and Montreal are easy opponents for the Leafs hasn't been paying attention. :sarcasm:
Uh, have you watched the games against Buffalo and Montreal this season? They have been some of the Leafs' easiest games this season.

I hope that rings true this time around against Montreal. They are in the wildcard race and will probably put up a better showing vs earlier in the season. Same goes for CBJ.

Buffalo should be a slam dunk.

The Leafs past five games are significantly closer to the playoffs, and they’re 4-1. Doesn’t exactly seem like “skidding” into the post season.
Why not revive an old thread right?
8-1-1 and only 6 games left. Based on the whole recency bias and proximity to yhe playoffs can we assume we are now Stanley Cup favorites?

I made a boo-boo. I won’t try to justify this. They are playing great now. I hope they carry this into the playoffs.

New Jersey is in 3rd place in their division and is already 2 points over their last season total. It's not looking like Keefe has been "catastrophic" for them at all. I wasn't a Keefe fan at all during his tenure with the Leafs but he's certainly not the problem in NJ, atleast from my limited viewings.
give him time. he took over a team with a ton of talent

At 8-1-1 in our last 10 games, can we say the skidding has slowed to a slight slip?

That’s 2 games out of 10 that the Leafs didn’t win. Meaning 20% of the time, they lose.

Can you imagine if a doctor or a pilot had a 20% failure rate? Things would be very bleak in the field of medicine and airline travel. So bleak.

I know you're being glib but can you also imagine a second pilot or surgeon who's sole purpose was to just be there and try to make the primary surgeon/pilot not succeed. 80% success would be wonderful but I'm not flying.

Whereas an .850 batting average would be more than acceptable. Maybe sports is different.

I wonder what a surgeon's success rate would be if while he was operating an opposing surgeon was trying to kill the patient?

They're just overreacting to a horrible showing, it happens. Doesn't mean they are bandwagon jumpers or fair weather fans.

The team has turned it around significantly since their 4-5-1 slide in March. Put this one behind ya and keep moving. I hope we get Ottawa first round, I use to love those series in the early 2000s.

Part of me wants to believe that Berube has this team playing at 80% intentionally, to sandbag the competition into thinking the Leafs are going to be an easy out. The other part of me thinks that Berube is not a good coach and done nothing to correct this teams past poor behaviours , except implement a system the makes us score less and gives up a shit load of shots on goal. Has this team already peaked?

Imagine if a team in HOCKEY had a .800 win percentage? Comparing Hockey to a Doctor, is like comparing sand to a Big Mac.

I think the latter makes more sense then the former all the habits are the same players know their gonna play regardless Matthews should not be on the penalty kill myers should be on the bottom pair with rielly A lot of the issues even a blind man can see but he’s a dinosaur

They are in trouble. They are going to lose to Ottawa, Florida, Tampa and Montreal.

Calling it right now, if they play Ottawa they are getting swept.

They might have had to keep a potential Florida tank in check last night. Unequivocally hoping they defeat Tampa tonight though.

Imagine thinking you’re being really smart but actually being really dumb comparing sports with pilots and doctors
