Ridiculous. Just like Whitey Herzog in ‘85, Berube refuses to shake things up.
Not sure what you mean. No, he doesn't appear to be starting Lindgren, but he has definitely switched a lot of things up. No Perunovich and I think it's a good decision. He's a -4 even with sheltered minutes and 3 of his 4 assists are on the powerplay.

I was hoping they'd start Lindgren. He comes in with fresh confidence and gives you a good start and you have more chance to evaluate your players heads up at evens against the team they need to surpass next year and instead you're choosing to be down 1-0 or 2-0 by the ten minute mark and chase the game on the road in front a vengeful shithole crowd of Avs fans, enhancing the need for a scoring outburst that isn't coming.

20% of me cares…kind of like our roster’s care level at this point.

Maybe they turn it around, but I doubt it.

Kudos to the few guys who tried to put everything on their backs.

Winning game 5 is a good in its own right, even if it ends there. I follow Memphis in the NBA, and there are some real parallels between that 2nd round series and this one. Their star injured his knee game 3, a lot of idiocy back and forth about dirty play, tight games they were on the wrong end of.

They stomped Golden State game 5, only to lose game 6 in a hard fought battle. Game 5 helped send a message they can build on IMO.

A win drags this out. Make them skate and tire out. Maybe they will flake. Not lost on me that in much of the commentary post game 5 that we gave them bulletin board material…..well that kinda cuts the other way. Chirping like that carries an undertone on their end that this is nailed down. They’ll feel a lot different about that if we steal this second game on their ice.

Even if it doesn’t pay off this series for us, a win tonight might help set the stage for them to tap out next series, and I imagine the spite is strong with the players as it is the fans at this point. It also sets the tone that we will compete end to end. It gives the younger guys more experience.

A lot to be gained with this win. Concede nothing.

The problem with all the rah rah inspiration is that it all comes crashing down the second Husso lets another softie in. Unless they can win games 6-5.

Zero issue with starting the guy who got you here. If Ville wants a job and a big raise next year, he can play for it. Not starting him after all he’s done for the team this season would be an enormous slap in the face and virtually guarantee he’d be gone in the offseason (and just generally a bad look for the org IMO). Let’s go Ville, LGB!

He should still have a short leash tonight. He’s been dreadful since game 1 against Minnesota. If he allows 2-3 early goals, you have to pull him.

why bother? game would be over at that point. with this top 9 stinkin up the joint, we are lucky to score 3 goals a game.

im tired of this team f***ing over chuckie. they benched him when he was at 5-0 for no reason, binner could have sat for that game @ WPG as he clearly wasnt ready to come back and then xmas covid break totally killed what he had going on then they send him to the minors.

husso couldnt stop a damn beach ball right now and he has no FIGHT in him to compete like Binner does. this games gonna be a f***ing blowout.

Agreed completely, if Husso looks shakey or gives up a couple softies then by all means pull him. But regardless how tonight goes, Husso has a future in the NHL. He’s still a relatively young goalie experiencing the playoffs for the first time and can (likely will) improve. Even a loss could be valuable experience for Husso.

Lindgren seems like a good guy, but let’s be honest he is what he is.

I'd argue it's also a bad look that you have a goalie in your system that came up, went 5-0 for you with a 1.22 GAA and .958 save%, and then went back down to the AHL and dominated there too by going 24-7-1 with a .925 save% and 2.21 GAA, and the team never gave him another shot.

For Berube to openly admit that he did not give a single thought to Lindgren, THAT is a slap in the face.

Lindgren is a UFA this offseason along with Husso, so he can leave too. Hopefully other goalies around the league see this situation and realize that no matter how well they play for you, the Blues won't give you a fair shot so don't bother signing here.
