Olympics 2026 qualification

A little over a month to go and it looks like all 6 Latvian NHLers will join the camp. 2 exhibition games planned vs. Denmark at home.

With Balinskis back, Balcers and Blueger in the
top 6 and even Girgensons cementing the bottom
6, it would be a devastating upset not to make the Olympics.

Balcers - Blueger - Tralmaks
Daugavins - Abols - Indrasis
Vilmanis - Girgensons - Egle
Dzierkals - Batna - Kenins
Locmelis, Ri. Bukarts

Balinskis - Rubins
Jaks - Cukste
Cibulskis - Freibergs
Zile

Silovs
Merzlikins

Latvia is favorites. But France, Slovenia and Ukraine are no pushovers. Latvia barely beat Poland in WC.

We were missing most of our key players and only had 2 natural centermen available in the match vs. Poland. And even then it was a complete fluke. So, yes, not all of the match ups will be competitive.

French roster for the pretournament games against Norway

So Ylönen is out and replaced by Keller.

Everyone available on the blueline is there (Spinozzi still without passport, Boscq still suspended).

In front only K. Bozon is missing. Da Costa, Bertrand and Perret will join the team directly in Riga.

Best French team ever or would the Huet, prime Bellemare, Roussel teams be better?

This one looks damn good. Much will depend on Papillon carrying his worlds form.

Ukraine's extended roster called for the training camp and pretournament game against Hungary.

My Ukranian is rough.

Prime Da Costa-Bellemare-Roussel is by far the best line France ever had. It's hard to imagine one coming close to it will ever see the day again. Same for Huet in the net. But their talent made the team too reliant on them.

This one got decent talent, is homogeneous and more importantly got depth. It feels surreal the French can wonder who they have to cut, especially in front. Defense could use Spinozzi and Boscq to give the same feel as well. And with Ylönen out, all 3 goalies can give more confidence to the team. It is up to Coach Treille now to bring this one together as this is probably the best shot they got in a long time to qualify on their own.

But I still see Latvia on home ice topping it up at the end...

In Google Translate, I trust 😂

Philippe Bozon, father to Tim and Kevin was a great player.

And Kazakhstan enters today the President's Cup in Astana during which they will face Barys Astana, Amur Khabarovsk and Lada Togliatti.

Roster.

Live stream

"Stylish" 1-7 loss against average KHL team like Lada just shows how bare bones Kazakhstan roster really is. Take away one line of serious pros and team looks abysmal. Obviously it was a hodgepodge lineup in the middle of August, but the showing was concerning to say the least.
