Its just hard to be positive when a player missed an ELIMINATION game.

I've haven't seen anything to have me very concerned. If he's out for a while, this team is sunk, but I'm not too worried. The information thus far is that his hand is swollen, but the x-ray didn't show anything.

Anze Kopitar speaks great English.

Never would have thought that Slovenia would get to the quarters. Big congrats to them.

Kopitar is developed in Sweden by the team BBKrs brother is the GM for. There is a bunch of players from that team in the OGs. Hagelin is another.

speaking of Kopitar, how about signing Gašper Kopitar to a contract?? he is the younger brother of Anze Kopitar... Sather loves bloodlines so maybe its a possibilty, only 21 years old..

already looks good in the blue and white jersey :sarcasm:.. anyways just throwing out an idea to restock the farm with signing some UFA....

What if its broken?

I'm not convinced yet that its not.

You were 100% sure that Staal would never return to hockey after his concussion. You need to relax and wait like the rest of us instead of jumping to "The sky is falling and the world is ending!" first.

As far as missing an elimination game, maybe he didn't want to further aggravate whatever happened to his hand and thought about the future of his NHL career. Maybe he thought it was a little futile to risk further injury considering Norway has been outscored something like 12-3 this Olympics prior to that elimination game against the Russian team.

Czechs-Slovakia was an awesome game.

Can't believe Canada finishes 3 and gets Latvia in the quarters! Sweden-Slovenia should actually be pretty competitive.

Jonathan Ericsson is another Olympic player that played in Södertälje
SSK juniors William Nylander and David Pastrnák are both draft eligible and expected to go as first rounders this year.

Almost forgot that the only 2014 Swedish Olympic player not in the NHL aka Jimmie Ericsson - brother of Jonas Ericsson - played for Södertälje SK 1998–1999.

That's why he should be traded while his value is at an all time high not to mention the "reasonable" contract he is now signed to.

Full NMC plus we wouldn't get back enough value that would make losing the only reason our franchise has made the playoffs the past decade worth it

Just wanted to swing by and see if any of you guys had plans to watch the US game in the city tomorrow... Took the day off and would love to join a viewing party....

I can only play the viewing party card once this week and ma hopeful I can use it on Friday. I am guessing the same bars that were open for Saturday's game will be open tomorrow though... @FeileNYC @YellowHook @JackDemseysNYC @Warren77NYC @FoleysNY @SaloonNYC

Hank is saving Sweden's beacon. Slovania is dominating but Sweden gets a PP of a high stick in our zone and score, 1-0 Sweden.

Wow, Latvia. Wow.

This is not the first time. A team looks great playing against better nations, and then they end up in a game where they have to carry the play and they fail.

This is a mechanism many are not aware of when watching international hockey. Hence many don't get it to add up. How can a roster with 50% AHLers and 50% ECHLers make it harder for Crosby than a good NHL team?

The thing is, that team with 50% AHLers and 50% ECHLers has for years built towards beind able to play that type of game. They have a game plan designed for it. Nobody in the NHL ever had that type of game plan. You try to play a way that can get you into the PO's, not to get 36 pts in 82 games in stead of 12 pts if you get what I mean. To loose with 3-1 instead of 6-1 on the avg night.

Nowadays, you face a bunch of great athleets that are full time professionals, and that has worked real hard at finding ways to prevent any team from pwning them completely. Can you expose them? Of course. But you won't do it if you have a team that is struggling to get into their game plan, that isn't connecting with passes, that isn't getting players into the right roles etc. Since its a pre-season game, nobody will take any notice when Zug was it beat 80% of Torts best team 8-3 or whatever the score was 3 years ago. But this is the game of hockey. If NHL teams played AHL teams and even ECHL teams -- in games that mattered -- we would undoubtedly see the same type of scores from time to time. You need to do a few things to score goals and you need to do a few things to defend. Then talent matters. But if you don't do those things, talent doesn't necessary pay off.

Hags is so fast, especially watching him on the big ice.

Nasty hit on Hagelin, head down, shoulder to head, hopefully no concussion.
