That sucks, it could be a trade that makes sense for both teams, but the pens would need to replace top 4 dmen like maata who's young and signed long term.

I'd be ok with it. We might have to play Pouliot-Daley, Cole-Schultz and spread the minutes (or ride the hot hand each game).

If we need another depth D we could trade whoever JVR replaces in the line up for a comparable D man.

It's been five games already, it is clear that the guy belongs in the ECHL.

He didn't get benched in the finals. He got benched vs. TBL, after which he was good for game 6 & game 7 + the cup finals.

He's definitely fine in the NHL but more in the department of #6 till he speeds up

The Pens could find a shorter term solution.

Leafs add Pens choice of Connor Carrick or Marty Marincin and the Pens add Filip Gustavsson.

The Pens stole him from the Leafs this past draft.

A better one than that.

Even if Pouliot weren't out, I don't think Sullivan would be okay with it.

Pens might consider moving him if they start to think twice about protecting another forward over Maatta in expansion.

Sullivan's handling of him this season should be telling as well. He's going to have to let him play through his struggles. I'm not sure if a win now team is going to do that. Especially in a system that relies on skating, which is his main issue now.

We won a Cup with Lovejoy in our top 4 in the Final. We could possibly find a stopgap to play with Daley and move Maatta.

I am thinking this is not outside the realm of possibility.

If you traded Maatta for JVR and then moved Fehr's salary for that stop gap, it's doable (you even could add a sweetener in a deal and get a deal with some retention for an impending UFA).
