Prospect Info: Oliver Kapanen, RHC, KalPa U20 (U20 SM-sarja), 64th Overall

Remember Kapanen during our pre-season games? This is what I'm expecting to see if he's back in MTL, not the guy that look a little bit lost in his 1st 14 games.

Hoping that MSL isn't changing the 1st and 3rd lines.

Try him on the 2nd with Laine.

Heineman-Kapanen-Laine
Newhook-Evans-Armia
Team is in a different state of mind too. However I doubt he had time to hit the gym all that much during the regular season

Kapanen can apparently play in Montreal and, when the team's season ends, go down to help Laval. Kapanen's clan and Montreal will discuss this today.

I feel Roy will be heading back down and Kapanen will come play in Montreal first.
I'm bit surprised that they are discussing it today.
If I'm the GM, the decision has been taken months ago. A decision with many different scenarios.

The Habs need way more help than Laval. Play him in Montreal the last 9 games then send him to Laval if the Habs don't make the playoffs.
Not only that but adding a player to a lineup this late into the season can be dangerous chemistry wise. The deadline additions are always a hit or miss thing and they have mutiple weeks to gel. Adding a player with 10 games to go is far from ideal.

He played in montreal this year so adding him to the NHL lineup makes sense he already has around 1 month of experience with the big club. We also need a better bench in playoffs. Can't go in playoffs with Pazetta as our 13th forward imo. If kapanen was not signed his season would be over like it will be the case for Demidov so the "he can't sit" argument is imo not valid since if not signed he would actually sit for the summer..

Not the same caliber of player but sure seems like adding Caufield didn’t hurt the chemistry when he came out of college. If the guy can help, you don’t ask questions and you bring him, I’d argue that if circumstances were different, all 3 of Kapanen, Reinbacher and Demidov should be added for the current run, won’t happen for obvious reasons with the latter two but with a one armed Armia and ineffective Roy and Pezzetta, I don’t think bringing Kapenen would upset anything or anyone.

What if Beck is recalled and Kapanen is the backfill in Laval?
Very possible but Beck already had a call up earlier and was sent back down. I think they’d more likely want to see Kapanen’s game coming of his SHL season but get him some reps in Laval before throwing him into the NHL in the middle of a right playoff race.

Quantity over quality... we just dont have space for him. Of course, I would like him before Pezzeta, but not over Roy who has been realy great recently. And theres also the Xhekaj hybrid project who diserve a shot. Honesly, you need to be a genius to bring him on the club in a playoff contender context

Lol, Roy has been ass. Got bumped out of the lineup by Pezzetta. Kapanen is bigger, grittier, plays a more complete game, and is a natural center that can also play wing. He is much better defensively as well. Him over Roy would be a no-brainer at this point if he comes back over this season.
