GDT: Buffalo Sabres at Ottawa Senators - 7PM - TSN5 / RDS2 - 4th and Final Sabre Rattling Rigmarole with the JBD Juggernauts (no Brady)

Officiating has been pretty horrendous over the last few weeks, Stu isn't the only one getting frustrated with it, just look at how Zub reacted to the non call on Crosby slashing the stick out of his hands.

With stu, it's not just the ref though. It's missed opportunities by him and his teammates.

I don't see zub shaking his head when others don't pass him the puck.

I see stutzle asking for the puck and not receiving it and then looking skyward almost to say "why didn't you pass me the puck" lol

I didn't see this game, reffing was garbage again?
They made some early calls that we failed to capitalize on, then put away the whistles for the rest of game unless it was to make phantom calls on Zub because a buffalo player 4 feet away bumped into Ullmark and fell over

Some pretty obvious missed calls, but that's to be expected I guess

I have the solution for this team; next time:

- if you're thinking of passing the puck, shoot instead
- if you're thinking of shooting, pass instead.

Back from the game. It was a rough one, but my Dad had a good time, so I'm happy.

Chris Neil was the Sens alumni that presented him a jersey. Real stand up guy. Sat down and chatted with my Dad for a good while, and took photos with everybody who was there. Super cool.
Wonderful guy... salt of the earth just nice, not some ego-driven asshole like some. My wife and daughter (women hockey players) went with their team to his outdoor hockey place one evening. They and all the other ladies on the their team were treated like gold by him. He really is a class act by all accounts!

Giroux is on his last legs, unfortunately.
Zetterlund, although snakebitten, has looked effective on the forecheck and backcheck.
I would sit Giroux and have him be ready for Playoffs. I suspect he wont be back next season or if he does it will be at a fraction on his current deal.
I don't disagree with your assessment of Giroux' diminishment, but I would just move him down from the 1st line as opposed to sitting him. We have enough gaps to fill with missing players. Simply put, it is readily apparent that he is no longer 1st line caliber. The odd goal here or there doesn't change that. He has noticeably slipped and it is not just a slump. A wily vet like him might be far more effective on a 3rd or 4th line given his hockey IQ, but he no longer has the speed or agility to keep up with 1st line mates or beat the opponents best defence. He should also see less time on PP. Yes, no no way he should be paid more than 3rd/4th line money if he stays and then only a year at a time. If he walks then so be it. And for all that is holy, don't give him an EFFING NMC just because he is a vet and he deserves it! Doing that with Hamonic's contract was idiotic, if not mystifying!
