I believe a few solid European sources (Bexell?) have said he'd sign with Timra so these transfer agreement clauses kick in and then would sign with MTL this summer. So this is just the first shoe to drop.

I haven't seen him play but reading comments here, I'm wondering if we don't have a new version of Lehkonen in Kapanen. He could be kind of a glue player, who could play anywhere in the lineup and make it work. Wasn't Lehkonen used by Canadiens like that too? Playing with someone like Kapanen...

Ridiculous. If Bedard had been European he would have been behind Dvorak because he hadn't played in the NHL. Teams don't need to see a player in the NHL to know his potential.
Yakupov has nothing to do with anything. He was an asshole who thought he had nothing to learn. Unless Kapanen has shown the same traits there is NO relevance.

Intriguing prospect. I always said he reminded me of Galchenyuk because he's got a really good shot, but skates in quicksand. His skating seems to have improved.

I think his game is going to fit the pros quite well. Could be a Lehkonen type of player, but I don't think he's as quick.

I don't think Kapanen has a higher ceiling than Beck. He seems to have a lot of decent skill, but no high end ones. Beck has a lot of decent skills as well, but he has a high end shot and high end skating.

I see Kapanen like a Lehkonen at best, and Beck like a Horvat at best.

Beck still has not played against pros and we don't know how his offensive game will translate in pro hockey.

I have seen quite a bit of Beck the last two years. I don't think he will be play driving/point producer in the pros. I see him as a defensive/PK/Face off specialist.

I think Kapanen could very well be a more offensively productive NHLer than Beck as he is more creative with the puck and a better playmaker and has better hands imo. Both kids can shoot the puck and while Beck is a little faster, Kapanen is a little bigger. They both have the potential to provide secondary offence and hopefully they both are able to fill important middle six roles in Montreal some day.

Two good pieces to have for bottom 6 depth. I'd focus at adding more centers and staring with the Jets 1st.

Beck or Kapanen won't be a top 2C in the NHL but they are both true type centers who can provide good value with proper usage. Not pretender center wantabees.

Beck won't put up a lot of offense. Most reasonable fans agree with this. However, do we really know how they develop from age 20+ though? Not really.

I like how good he is with his stick in front of the net, he gets into the dirty areas and is good at tipping in shots. Since Lehkonen left, we haven't had a lot of that.

Come playoff time, when games are tight you need guys like that who can great some offense around the net.
